We popped in and gratefully found the toilets and cafe right at the front, handy if you need a quick loo/food stop. Toilets were clean. We didn’t know the Chaucer exhibition was on, but it was a great find! Very interesting to walk through and read about the history of such a prominent and influential author. We certainly learnt a lot and it was great to see some rare and very old books. The space was great. Didn’t see much else, there is an old tapestry by the cafe. Definitely worth a quick visit, and the shop was lovely, ended up buying a few books.

I came to the Weston specifically to see the current exhibit of writers' first drafts and notebook jottings. I was not disappointed. As an author myself, I was practically moved to tears to see the early jottings, scratch-outs, and retries of my favorite novel (Excellent Women) of one of my favorite authors (Barbara Pym). Well done, Weston!

With the vast number of books and publications continually being acquired by the Bodleian Libraries storage space is a constant challenge. This led to the remodelling of the New Bodleian Library in the 2000s to give an end result renamed the Weston. Overall on its opening in 2015 it gave not only much enhanced storage but also a pleasanter experience for readers and visitors. It is here that tours of the Old Bodleian and Radcliffe Camera are booked. A café and gift shop are within.
