About
llyria Pottery is a truly local, independent pottery shop in Oxford's city centre. Ceramic artist, Katie Coston, creates each handmade, one-of-a-kind piece in her studio just below the shop. Looking for a souvenir from Oxford? Why not bring something back that was actually made in the city? Illyria offers a refreshing space to explore. Have a wander through and procure loveliness.

Beautiful unique pottery
Sep 2019 • Family
All the beautiful pottery in this stunning Jericho shop is made by artist Katie Coston in her basement studio. From tiny dishes and bowls to spectacular huge vases and platters, each piece is a unique piece of art. Lessons are also available and highly recommended. Don’t miss a visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

Beautiful pottery, well worth a look in. A true gem of Jericho
Feb 2019
I used to live in Oxford and before I ever visited the shop I would pass by and be in awe of the lovely window displays. If you come to Oxford then you need to pop in and see the amazing pottery for yourself. This shop perfectly sums up Jericho, eclectic, creative and independent. The way things are displayed in the shop is an art form, let alone the actual pottery. ( which is spectacular) The owner Katie is one talented lady and one day I will own one of her tree bowls ( I just need to save up!) Everything is fairly priced for what it is- unique handmade pottery- functional and a piece of art. I love that shops like this exist!
I no longer live in Oxford but when I visit friends I will definitely pop in again.

Stunning handmade pottery
Sep 2019 • Solo
Illyria is my go-to when I need a special gift for family or friends. Katie creates beautiful and unique pieces of art from scratch on-site in Oxford’s picturesque Jericho neighbourhood. Her wares are sold by her and her charming staff in a lovely space upstairs, with the help of famous shop cat Lucie Maud, who can often be seen sunbathing on a shelf (or in a beautifully glazed bowl) in the window. You can pick up mugs, bowls, plant pots, spectacular vases, and even jewellery. Truly a favourite spot and neighbourhood treasure.

Lucie Maud is the Queen of North Oxford
Apr 2019 • Business
Illyria Pottery is a delightful shop selling Katie Coston’s excellent creations, and a part of what continues to make Jericho a very special part of Oxford. It is also where you can find Lucie Maud, a quite brilliant black-and-white cat (with her own hashtag on both Twitter and Instagram—though the best pictures are on Instagram), whose poise, elegance, and fondness for sitting in the shop window surrounded by the pottery—or, often enough, curled up inside one of the larger bowls—have made her a North Oxford legend, with a small army of devoted admirers.

Beautiful shop with lovely hand made products
Oct 2018 • Couples
Not only is the display window beautiful, but the products inside are beautiful as well. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner and potter, Kate. She is friendly and I was so pleased to purchase a few of her lovely pieces. Her inventory includes reasonably priced pieces for any budget. Do stop in!
As an added bonus, the street includes other interesting shops and restaurants. A bit off the beaten path in the Jericho area but well worth finding!

Spontaneous Creative Moment
Apr 2017 • Solo
Follow this local business on Twitter following discovery during a Facebook Women in Buisness webinar.

Spotted Tweet yesterday to say space on wheel-throwing pottery course today. As child-free for the day I acted on impulse and booked!

Very glad I did! Just two of us with knowledgeable and encouraging tutor for two hours of creative thinking - bliss. Not done anything like this since school days (mid-80's!).

Made three pots which will be dried, fired and glazed (by staff with our choice of glaze) and should be ready to collect in a few weeks.

£95 seems good value - Katie's small bowls retail at £15 each - of course standards and quality of product differ enormously, but certainly highlighted value to me.
