Got some lovely new furniture for our new house. We decided to splash out and spend a few hundred pounds of wedding gift money on some period furniture, which ended up going further than we expected (two bedside tables, a trunk and a chair for under ÂŁ300). The thing that earned the fifth star, though, was the owner/assistant who came out to our car and spent a long while readjusting seats and moving things around to fit the whole haul in. Beyond the call of duty, and much appreciated.

We were looking for a Chinese style sideboard, we had been looking on various sites ie e-bay etc, and came across GiltandGrain, found exactly what we were looking for, it turned out to be exactly what we wanted, it was circa 1900 still with the makers name on the back and exactly where made. The man who ran the shop was a lovely person named Ko he arranged delivery for us and all the way from Oxford to Romford at a very reasonable price too. We will certainly recommend this shop to people who are into this style of furniture. All reasonably priced too. Thank you.

Have bought some lovely pieces of furniture here over the past few months. There is always something a little bit different on offer. Ideal if you are furnishing on a budget. The customer service is excellent and I can't praise Ko, the owner, highly enough. My favourite shop in Oxford!

Lovely antique and vintage shop - lots to look at, wish for, and buy. Prices very reasonable.
I bought a brass fire-guard like my granny's, about 1900, for ÂŁ22.
Very friendly owners.

Charming mix of trinkets, furniture, paintings and everything in between. Welcoming staff offered me tea, which I of course gleefully accepted. Real winner. Highly recommended.

Gilt & Grain is our new addiction! We have only recently discovered it and are tempted to keep it a secret. But we want the owners to do well as they have a wonderful shop full of interesting eclectic furniture that is very reasonable priced and they are very helpful and friendly. So go visit if you have chance as you will find it hard to leave empty handed!
