Oxford Castle Unlocked explores the 1000-years of Oxford's History. Led by one of our costumed character guides, the rich history of the castle with a prison at its heart will be revealed to you. Climb St. George's Tower and take in the stunning views before descending into the atmospheric crypt, along the 18th century prison wing and into archaic man-made mound.

An age-old prison converted to an historic hotel

An original prison has been retained to show visitors just what the inmates had to endure. Hotel rooms even have en-suite bathrooms.

Our second tour in two years, and its even better than before, Daniel Harris was our guide, what a sterling character. For the cost, whats involved, and the venue this is simply a must do when your in Oxford. Something for all ages, so dont miss out..

My husband took our two middle children into here and they managed to walk all the wAy to the top of the tower. The guide was brilliant and very knowledgable. Cafe was lovely, clean and served great food too.

had a very enjoyable guided tour by Charles Holloway he is dressed in Victorian jailers outfit and is very knowledgeable and entertaining, be aware that there is 102 steps up a narrow spiral staircase and the same way down again as this isn't explained when you purchase your ticket. lots to look at and an incredible story.

This was fantastic, actors playing the roles of historical figures providing you with the gory and spooky past of the castle. The guide we had was dressed as a monk and was very enthusiastic! The tour around the castle was fun - going up the tower and having photos in the cells like real criminals but you can't help thinking... More

We had the most awesome tour guide that brought the prison to life. The stories that were shared and the life one experienced while in this prison were fascinating! Well worth the visit but buy a multi attraction ticket when you get there as this was not offered online for rebooking.

The staff are the most friendly and helpful that I think I have ever come across at any tourist attraction in the UK and that's why I have left a review.

Review from our 6 year old: I appreciated the castle, it was very neat and I liked the old walls. I like the guide and her stories and me and my sister enjoyed playing in the different rooms.

Visited this week with my nephews aged 7 & 10. What a fantastic tour, we were taken around by tour guide Daniel Harris who was excellent at keeping all the group enthralled throughout the hour we spent with him. The first part of the tour is climbing a tower which is only suitable for those who are fit enough to... More

Not going into to much information that will spoil anyone's trip, it was a entertaining and informative tour of the castle. You cannot see the castle on your own, but via tours very 15 mins (ish). The tour was great, the guides are dressed up and each has their own story to tell! You go up the tower, with great... More
