Toured the prison with Prisioner Smith who was entertaining and knowledgeable. The tower staircase is a tight fit so always mind your step and head!

A bit of an oasis just outside the city centre, with lots of restaurants and a hotel cnostructed from the old jail, plus a decent enough visitors centre.

Our family of 6 took the tour on a gorgeous summer day. Charlie, our guide, was fun and informative. Since the castle spent much of its time as a prison in various ways, I would expect to hear about the abuses and terrible conditions, and...More

Met up with old friends - 2 families with young (7-13 years) kids - we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Really interesting history and our guide Sasha was excellent. Had a lovely picnic on the mound. Thoroughly recommended.

There were about three children under 5 on the tour I went on and the guide made it entertaining for them, so I'm sure your children will enjoy it!
