It was great to learn about all the history of this place. The tour guide made an excellent job in making it dynamic and fun for the group.

We visited Oxford castle and prison as part of our long weekend in Oxford. We were staying in the adjacent Malmaison hotel and received a discount to visit the castle. We found it a very interesting, informative and fun tour. Our guide, Alistair, was great...More

I wouldn't call it a must see, but if you enjoy history stories give it a try! We had an amazing guide, Beca if I recall righ, witch make the place more interesting. But, it's basically a tower with 5 - 6 rooms that used...More

Hi! Thank you for reviewing- we're really pleased that you enjoyed your tour! As you say, there isn't as much of the site left as we'd like (thanks to Oliver Cromwell!) but we like to think we pack a lot in!

Hi Debbie, thanks so much for reviewing us! We're really pleased to hear that you enjoyed Esther's tour!

Despite the enthusiasm of the guides, the effort that it takes to go up the steps of this Castle/prison does not justify the visit. Some of its history was interesting but gruesome. Not a pleasant visit.More

Hi! We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit (the 101 step tower climb is certainly not easy!) and that you found the information upsetting. Unfortunately, prisons historically were very unpleasant places, and the English justice system was quite harsh. If you want...More

This was an experience I'll not soon forget. Not what you'd expect in Oxford, but should be on everyone's list to see. After seeing the highlights and going on tour across Oxford, I waivered if I wanted to walk a bit outside of downtown to...More

On the edge of Oxford city centre is this brilliant museum. Visited with 11yo, 8yo, 7yo, 5yo and 3yo! You can only go in with a guided tour, which is great as the tour guides are so knowledgeable and friendly. There is a little play...More

We love a castle, so we came for a day out in Oxford including a trip to the Castle & Prison. It was unusual to find that you HAD to go around by Guided Tour, and we were not advised of the climbing at the...More

Hi! We're really pleased to hear that you enjoyed Molly's tour! We do have signage at our till point to explain about the tower and the climbing the restrictions- but we are looking into the possibility of getting more. Thanks for reviewing us!

The main tower isn’t accessible for (I think) under 5’s. It’s also got a lot of steps in a tight spiral staircase. If any of your party can’t go up the tower then they put a video on downstairs for you to watch
