Run down, limited, unenthusiastic!
Jul 2019 • Friends
Having completed 30-40 Escape Rooms before, I feel suitably qualified to cast judgement.

I was lulled in by their professional website and discount offer, well even with the discount, attending the 'Broken Time' was still a waste of money.

The room is run down and had a variety of 'puzzles' that didn't operate as expected. We also got to a stage where we were stumped and assumed we had missed something, to then be told, "you have to just try trial and error" which isn't intuitive, nor does it require any problem solving skills.

All in all we left disappointed with the room and were further confused when the host didn't really say anything we when we exited. No photo or timing and barely any interaction. There are far better rooms out there to spend your money on!

Great value for money ! Don't know why there are bad reviews !
Jun 2019 • Friends
I visited here with some friends and could not be happier ! I don't know why there are such bad reviews, I feel people can be so salty and negative and expect high class escape rooms. Yes it's true that it's based on top of a shop - but once you go into those rooms, it's very challenging and fun ! Vinny the host was so professional and welcoming on arrival. He talked us through everything and explained that if we needed anything whilst inside to give him a shout. He also has a great sense of humour. Nethertheless - for the price you pay it's definitely a good experience and I can't recommend enough. As for the mirror being cracked in the room - it's part of the scenery! The reviews here make me laugh !

Broken down
Jun 2019 • Friends
All a bit shabby, broken mirror in main room and ended up with one of the puzzles failing meaning we couldn’t finish as a door wouldn’t open. Left disappointed and unlikely to return.

My son played this with friends last evening, and couldn't stop raving about it. They all loved it! Highly recommended.

Awful experience, run down & rude staff

Literally can’t undertand how this escape room place has such good reviews as it is TERRIBLE!!

First of all, it’s really difficult to find, I guess that was the hardest part of the challenge! We were searching for some time on google maps and found a doorway which led to it, the sign was inside, would have been helpful outside so we could actually find it. The man was so rude, he didn’t say hello he said “you’re late your clocks already started” we said but it’s only 17:32 and we had to be here for 17:30-19:00, presuming the briefing would take place first then the escape room since you only get the room for one hour but pay for 1 1/2 hours? We said we were late because you didn’t put your sign out, he then started ranting on about how our timer has now started and that’s that because people were coming in after us (which wasn’t true) he was busy watching the football which was on loud and we were certainly an inconvinience for him. He stood staring at us making us feel really uncomfortable until my friend said we’ll come on then give us the brief so we can go in if our time has started. Already putting us in a bad mood he said “it’s the door up there”, it looked like some dodgy old run down flat. When we got in the room everything was broken and out of order, it was utter rubbish. We didn’t even need to find two of the codes to unlock clues because the items were broken so you could just take them out. Two of the locks were out of order and the mirror was smashed, there were just signs everything saying “out of order, do not touch, do not move etc” it was almost comical how bad it was! Everything was broken and dirty. I dread to think when it was last cleaned.

When we finished the guy just said you had 9 minutes to spare. Then didn’t say bye.. or like say well done that’s it hope you had fun.. literally nothing.. we were like.. do we just go? So we just walked out and he didn’t even say bye.

Literally spent £40 for 3 people to do this, my advice is keep your money or go elsewhere, I literally don’t understand how this has good reviews it was SO bad!

Worst escape room experience
Mar 2019
We have completed around 30 different escape rooms and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The guy running the show was incredibly rude telling us he wouldn’t be letting us out if we needed the loo, warnings if we misbehaved in the room (two adults playing the game!) and the quality of the room was diabolical and hadn’t been cleaned in months. Part of it involved us lying on the floor. We lost 7 minutes of our time due to us being 3 minutes late and the guy saying that our time had started because we were late - not even a hello on arrival. This was followed by a 4 minute safety brief and of course there wasn’t even anybody waiting to go into the room after we had finished. We have never had an escape room start the timer before people arrive. Absolute joke don’t bother.

Really fun and a great challenge!
Feb 2019 • Friends
Visited Exciting Game yesterday and couldn’t be more happier with the experience. Went with 3 friends and did the Diamond room, although we struggled with one of the puzzles, our host helped point us in the right direction. The room was clean and really nice. Our host Vinnie was very kind and funny. Would definitely recommend and will be back for the other room soon!

Fun, challenging one-hour of problem-solving
Feb 2019 • Friends
Four of us went to Exciting Game in February 2019 using a Groupon coupon making it very good value. Our challenge was different to the more-common 'escape' challenge; ours was to find a hidden diamond within an hour before the home-owner came home (i.e. we were crooks!).

We parked in the Waitrose car park which is roughly behind the centre - it cost us £2.50 for a two-hour slot. The centre is through a ground floor door squeezed in between a row of shops along the 'odd-numbers-side' of London Road. It is thus easy to find, and you go upstairs to reception.

It was important that we had read the prior instructions (sent to us in advance when we booked), as the pre-game briefing was rather weak and not very enthusiastic. This part of the experience could be SO improved (imagine how Disney would explain the challenge we were about to experience!!).

No spoilers here!! Suffice to say there is a collection of very good, challenging, mind-bending problems to solve to find the diamond. Five clues are available via a provided VHF radio.

Apparently 60% of participants succeed, and 40% do not. I am pleased to say we completed with just 2 minutes 20 seconds to spare. We were REALLY exhilarated by this, and spent the evening reminding ourselves of what we had done and how we had done it.

Sadly, the post-game briefing was limited to "I Have another game starting shortly, so you'll have to leave shortly". Again - imagine how good it COULD have been with say a photograph or a certificate of some other memento...

We 100% enjoyed the experience and were really glad we had booked it. It was the first such experience we had participated it. Highly recommended.

Poor quality
Dec 2018 • Friends
Our first visit here after playing many escape rooms elsewhere. Arrived to find a dirty entrance way leading up to the reception. The host rushed through the introduction and got us into the room. It was evident as soon as we entered the room that the quality was not high. It was a shabby room that had clearly seen a lot of wear and tear and not a lot of TLC. The puzzles were also quite basic in style (very 1st gen in terms of escape rooms). At one point we asked for a hint and had to spend 60 seconds explaining to the game host everything that we had done as he clearly hadn’t been watching the game. He then just simply told us the solution rather than offering hints to the solution. There were no ‘Wow!’ moments after solving a puzzle. And the final revelation was a big let-down. We finished with 15mins to spare. After completing the room the game host didn’t greet us. We had to make our own way out of the room and back to the reception. The game host remained seated and told us that we hadn’t made the leaderboard. We waited in the reception for a while longer expecting him to formally conclude our experience but he didn’t say another word to us and so eventually we just left.
Overall, a very poor experience. There are so many other competitors out there that deserve your money more! Avoid!

Really great adult family day out
Jan 2019 • Couples
Visited the Exciting Game Escape Rooms yesterday afternoon- it was a great day out! We did the ‘broken in time’ game, 60 mins to escape, 6 of us playing - we escape with 4 mins to go 😂.

The chap running it was very welcoming, confident and knew his stuff and was very helpful when we needed a clue. Definitely recommend this place for a team-building/ fun family day out.
