Having never been to the Oxford Playhouse before I wasn't sure what to expect, I'm always weary of getting a duff view. I wasn't disappointed on this occasion. A spacious theatre and I'm pretty sure everyone had a good view. The bar/cafe upstairs was being run by two friendly, efficient gentlemen and prices were reasonable for food and drink alike.... The Playhouse is a pleasant enough place and seems to be reasonably popular, so it's difficult to understand why they haven't been keeping up the fabric of the building. The carpet is literally held together with sticky tape and the seats are old and decrepit. Smarten it up please!

Hi there, We're glad you think we're a pleasant place to visit. Thanks for your feedback, we're actually entering the final stage of a refurbishment project at the moment that should transform the theatre - including brand new seating and carpets. You can find more information about the project via our website - just click the Support Us and Transforming... More

We went to see the panto because our daughter had made one of Widow Twankey's costumes. We hadn't been to the Oxford Playhouse before and thought it was a good local theatre - the staff were all friendly and the seats comfortable and well tiered in the stalls - we sat in the centre of Row H which were excellent... Very happy with the box office treatment we received when I rang up prior to attending as had won 2 tickets on a voucher and wanted to pay for my partner to attend me and our autistic son. My partner was put through as concessionary and tickets were easy to pick up yesterday before the matinee performance. We were sat... More

The traditional story of Aladdin was sadly ignored and updated to become unrecognisable. The duck and dog were not necessary, The worse thing they were asking for donations but really unclear as to what these were for.

We were disappointed by this year's pantomime. Peter Duncan spoiled us with wonderful Christmas fun in previous years. The new writer did not manage to live up to the same standards at all. The 2015 panto was slow, the duck and dog more annoying than entertaining. The dame was good of course, as always, simply because the actor is just... More

I wonder if the Playhouse management really understand what an investment £100 plus is for an average family? This year's panto was a massive "miss" for all of us. The street culture so strongly referenced in this show has little relevance in the shires and the performers themselves appeared detached and disinterested. A miserable offering, very sad.

We're regular visitors to the Playhouse Pantomime and this year, had brought along a group of Australian guests. We told them how hilariously funny the pantomime would be, explaining the traditional gags and what was expected of the audience in the way of participation. What a waste of time and money.....I was so embarrassed to have taken them there. Widow... More

Bring back Peter Duncan! A very disappointing panto. Poor acting, poor audience participation and many of the songs the children didn't know. Please do better next year!
