Great place to visit & free entry
Sep 2021 • Friends
Great museum, really enjoyed our visit. Entry is free but you are supposed to book tickets in advance, we didn't but only had a short wait before being allowed in. Great place for children to visit. Leads through to the Pitt Rivers museum which has an amazing, eclectic mix of things on display. Definitely worth a visit when in Oxford

Good to visit & free entry!
Sep 2021
Free entry although you have to book a ticket online & show at the gate. Not an issue as we did that standing outside and the ticket arrived immediately.

A typical natural life museum like others, with birds, animals, dinosaurs, lots of skeletons etc. plenty to look at and learn.

The building had loads of character and links onto the pitts river museum too which you can also look around.

We went on a Friday and the place was pretty quiet, I can imagine it gets busier at weekends.

Incredible that such an incredible place is free to enter as is its sister museum. Great range of exhibits especially the dinosaurs.

Full days worth and lovely food in cafe upstairs
Sep 2021
If this is your first visit to a Natural History museum you could easily spend all day in here. Some fascinating exhibits in a spacious open and bright place. Some of the smaller cases need a bit of s tidy up and clean. We also had our best lunch here in the vegetarian cafe upstairs - very tasty and good helping (we are not vegetarians)

Interesting
Aug 2021
I took my grandsons there and they loved the exhibits. The exhibits are well spaced and you have to book on line for a set time visit. That said there was no pressure to speed through.
The Pitt Rivers museum is within the natural history museum and personally I found that more fascinating.

Good exhibits
Sep 2021
Interesting exhibits and lots to read even though it is only one room. The staff at the door were friendly and helpful but the cafe was a big letdown. We arrived at 10.30am to be told there was no savoury food even though the cafe was open, because they weren't getting a delivery for another hour and the staff who were working in the cafe not only seemed to not know what was going on but were rude as well.

Lovely museum
Aug 2021 • Family
It’s a lovely museum with lots to look at, suitable for all ages. Stunning architecture. This was my third visit in five years with my children who are now 8 and 6. Really great meat exhibition upstairs to promote Veganism which was well received.
As we went during the holidays there were some children’s activities downstairs. Unfortunately my daughter was sent away midway during colouring in a butterfly ring, being told they are packing up, which was a bit odd, especially as it was mid afternoon. This is why I am giving four stars instead of five.

An excellent range of natural history exhibits
Aug 2021
While this museum is relatively small (it is connected to the Pitt Rivers Museum, but I didn't go in there), it fits plenty of different natural history specimens and information into the available space. The impressive dinosaur and marine reptile skeletons were definitely the highlight; given Oxford's historic links to the early days of palaeontology, those with an interest in the subject should definitely check this museum out.

Worth a visit
Aug 2021 • Couples
Plenty of things to see! The Tyrannosaurus skeleton is particularly impressive in the centre of the hall. Would definitely recommend a visit, especially to the Pitt Rivers museum.
