Worst College in Oxford
Dec 2019
Worst college in Oxford, small, dark, cramped, poor ventilation, terrible smelling. Even the students don't want to stay anywhere near the college. Most of them just show up at graduation time.

Wonderful and memorable
Aug 2019
Linacre is an unpretentious, friendly, diverse, inclusive, and lovely college with a ethos of environmentalism and egalitarianism. It's also well-known for having some of the best food of any college in Oxford. It's also adjacent to University Parks and a great place to visit at lunchtime before or after strolling along the river or by the cricket grounds.

Terrible experience
Nov 2019
I stayed in the college accomodation briefly as a student -- it was so awful I spent most of my time desperately seeking alternate accomodation. There is no ventilation, the rooms are tiny and dark, and the cleaners are intrusive.

Graduate college with a singular ethos
Jun 2017 • Solo
Linacre College has only been part of Oxford University since 1986. It is named after Thomas Linacre (1460-1524) the founder of the Royal College of Surgeons who was also a classicist. It aims to reflect his multi-disciplinary character. It was established in 1962 as a graduate college and the first to admit men and women on equal terms. It was the first college in Oxford to acquire a fair trade status and makes little distinction between its students and fellows. Originally housed in the building in St. Aldgate's which is now the Faculty of Music, it moved to its current premises at the end of St. Cross Road, a former convent, in 1977. The motto under its cost of arms is 'No End to Learning'. Most of its students are from overseas.
