Largest College in Oxford University
Sep 2018 • Couples
Kellogg College - and yes, it is named after the original benefactor, William Keith Kellogg (1860-1951), the founder of the breakfast cereal company - is the largest graduate college in Oxford University.
It doesn't seem large though as it is a collection of original large houses built around 1860.
The buildings are occasionally open to the public and they are taken round the places of interest. One is the Dining Hall where staff and students dine together on long, wooden tables with beautifully designed chairs. The new Hub is for snacks and drinks with one side of glass next to the garden, so you feel as if you are outside...
I visited on a Sunday out of term so it seemed very empty and unstaffed, but everything looked new and clean and seemed a relaxing place to study.
As always in Oxford it is almost impossible to park but you may be lucky in a side street on a Sunday.

Quiet, lovely rooms and close to pubs
Nov 2017 • Solo
Perfect for: people graduating, couples, friends or those on a conference

Great: rooms were modern with good amenities, parking on road site no permit needed on Sunday, shared kitchen with good facilities, residential area so away from student life

Consider: no parking in day unless permit, collect key using code outside which means there isn’t a reception

Part timers

Located on the Banbury Road in Oxford is Kellogg college that offers study and courses to mostly part time students. The building is fairly medium sized for a college.

Shambolic and a health risk
Jul 2017 • Business
Had lovely drinks at the new Kellogg Hub on Friday afternoon. Served efficiently by the attentive staff that afternoon.

We were not prepared for what we saw on Saturday morning. An unsupervised, apparently lazy, member of staff is potentially putting the health of all users at risk if they use any of the condiments, or cruet sets, on the table.

Why move the sugar sachets, and cruet set, to clean the table when you can spray over everything on the table and wipe the table where it lands? We watched in horror as this male dark haired member of staff did this on all tables but those where we were seated.

Table cleaning spray landed on all sugar sachets, and cruet sets, on every table.
The spray appeared to be absorbed by the sugar sachets, and the cruet sets, as it flowed down into the contents.

I have never seen so poor observance of food handing, even at greasy spoons. Surely this person can't be a member of staff or is the new hub a downmarket version of Kellogg complete with uneven sponsors boards and slanted lettering?

This is potentially putting the health of all users at risk and this man does not appear to have the level of skill sets to work in catering anywhere.

Speed of service very slow on Sunday too and with different staff. Shambolic start to the hub.

All users need to be told if the staff are supposed to be up and running when it opens rather than ambling in and getting started 1 hour after it is due to start.

Visitors staying at no 12 asked if there was anywhere nearby to eat after they had waited over an hour for food on both days. They won't be back.

Apparently a year 7 has photocopied the same articles of Michie and put them in frames at the entrance in no 12 or is this the same person who signed off the interior work in the hub and chose the Saturday and Sunday hub staff?

Hello Oxotraveller, Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Please be assured that we take food hygiene and customer service very seriously and are looking into the issues you raise to ensure that we always work to the highest standards. You might be reassured to know that the Hub has been awarded a 5 for food hygiene, but we shall certainly review training to ensure that nothing is overlooked. On talking to our staff, it seems possible that you might not have been aware that brunch is no longer pre-cooked and self-service, all meals are now prepared on demand to ensure maximum freshness and minimum wastage. We want everyone to have a good experience at the Kellogg Hub Café. Please do contact us directly so that we can learn more about the issues and ensure that your next visit is a good one. With all good wishes, Kellogg College.

Fabulous college in Oxford
May 2017 • Solo
The truth is that you mainly get to enjoy this (or any college) if you are a member of it (student, staff). Kellogg is a really friendly college with a range of extra curricular activities and interesting talks. The atmosphere is really pleasant and welcoming, and people are very open and friendly. I have been to formal halls here and I can confirm that the food is exceptionally good.

A get-together area which is a separate building called ´The Hub´ has just opened (May 2017) -- it is a very pleasant cafeteria with good and healthy food, and an MCR, it is really pleasant.

A great college for the part timers.
Nov 2016 • Business
As a part time student no longer in the first flush of youth this is the best place to be. I really didn't want to be the mature student surrounded by teenagers so Kellogg fits the bill. Food is excellent, the buildings and accommodation is more modern than most colleges but that's not a bad thing. I like to look at old buildings but I wouldn't want to live in one! College staff are used to dealing with vaguely bemused occasional visitors so part timers like me don't feel like we don't belong. A very inclusive welcoming environment.

Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant!
Jun 2016 • Solo
No doubt the most brilliant place to be in. I agree with some of the reviewers that there isn't much to do in Kellogg but there is a way around it. I usually look at different calendars before visiting Kellogg. There is always something going on in Oxford. If nothing is going on then create an event of your own. Organise one. Its a lot of fun. You will be surprised that people will always turn up (if you have advertised it properly). Food is not bad at Kellogg. Apparently its the best food compared to other colleges but I haven't been to any other so can't compare. Its a highly recommended college to join.

Good food
Sep 2014 • Family
Nice modern facilities, the breakfast has some really good choices, including pastries, porridge, and cereal. The bar is nice, and the staff are friendly, the lunch and dinner are also are a really good quality, and is on par with any local restaurant.

Kellogg offers very good one day and longer extra-curricular courses for the general public but the buildings aren't at all intersting.

Kellogg College
This is not something you would go and look at like other Oxford Colleges but have rated it because it runs good extra-mural classes
