Magnus, our guide, was very knowledgeable. He knew how to read the group of people he was showing the areas to, and thoroughly entertained us. The 90 minutes passed very quickly and we left feeling we knew so much more about Oxford than we could...More

Well worth 2hrs of your time to be guided around Oxford by a very enthusiastic guide who is very knowledgable on all aspects of the city. A bargain for the price, I would highly recommend.

The short walking-tour near the Bodleian library was conducted by a very informed tour guide. Unique tidbits were drilled into us as we walked around the various universities and rate structures. David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher and a host of celebrities, whose...More

Spent sometime on New Year’s Eve doing the walking tour. Found all the history fascinating. Magnus was our guide and was both informative and engaging. A very knowledgeable guy with a demonstrable passion for Oxford, it’s Universities and colleges and it’s history. A great experience.

The first issue we had was the tour guide not turning up. After a few minutes I rang the organiser who exclaimed 'Oh not again. I will see what is happening and get someone there soon.' So obviously this had happened before! Eventually a very...More

oxford walking tours (5 Replies)
hi guys i am thinking of joining an Oxford walking tour when I am there in May. Any recommendations? Came across footprints tours and Oxford Walking Tours but both starts at 11am. Is there anything else that starts earlier? Do we have to pre-book? We have a train to catch at 1400, so something earlier is preferred. Also, it says that footprints tours is free but you tip if you like the tour. Any idea on an appropriate amount to tip?

How much would you pay for two hours' entertainment and tapping into someone's expertise? I think £10 a head is fair. You certainly couldn't see a theatre production, a professional football match or, for that matter, use the services of a plumber for anything close to £10.
