We were wandering around Oxford early one morning when we came across Lisa Maree, who was offering a 2hr guided walk around Oxford. The tour is free but you are free to tip and you will as this is a great tour. Informative, covering a lot of ground (at least our small group did). This is a great way to see and get your bearings around Oxford. Down narrow passage ways and cobblestones you cover the colleges, old pubs where famous people drank etc etc. Overall a brilliant tour with tips on what to explore in your own time. Well worth the tip and highly recommended.

This was one of the best walking tours we have taken.
Lisa is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Oxford and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour. She gave us lots of information about things to do and places to visit after her tour had ended including a map with 2 further walks marked out.
Great way to see Oxford and highly recommended.

I knew I had enjoyed the Wander Oxford Walking Tour with Lisa, but I realised just how valuable it had been when, for the next week, I found myself recounting numerous fun facts I'd learned from her. Her tour provided a great overview of the city and its history. She also added so many fascinating stories that the history really came to life.
On the practical side, Lisa was very professional and organised throughout. The tour began promptly and was guided with care and attention. Her voice was suited for the stage--great projection, well articulated and well paced. She also provided useful tips on where to get the best photos, practical info for visiting various attractions, and even maps with additional routes for self-guided walking tours. And all with a never-ending smile. Highly recommended!

Lisa was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly and very accommodating. She explained the history of all the important landmarks, colleges and universities. She took us off the beaten track to some side streets and showed and told us about some interesting facts about the city Wall and a whole lot of other stuff. Most enjoyable couple of hours, I would highly recommend doing a tour with Lisa best way to learn about Oxford, its history and traditions. Thank you Lisa

Brilliant, amusing, engaging, educational and informative. Lisa's enthusiasm and love of the city shone throughout our tour. We would have enjoyed it if it had gone on all day. We loved the tour, came to love the city and Lisa was passionate about Oxford. You learnt so much even about doorways (the lion, the witch & the wardrobe). We didn't know about "sub fusc" until Lisa told us and realised we knew of it all the time. What an excellent way to spend a couple of hours, we can only recommend you join Lisa on one of her tours, she knows her stuff and her enthusiasm is infectious!

As a last minute idea, sitting on the train heading to Oxford, I decided to book a walking tour. So glad I did and that I chose Lisa to be my guide. She knows everything there is to know and more, showing us little hidden treasures on our 2 hour walk around the city.
Absolutely loved it and Lisa's energy and passion for Oxford made you want more than 2 hours as it felt like half that time.
Lisa doesn't charge its free but obviously tips are gratefully accepted and well worth offering. If your heading to Oxford do yourself a favor and book this tour as otherwise you just spend hours wondering around and missing out on history and secret alleyways :) Trust me you wont be sorry.

We had arrived in Oxford and were planning to walk around on our own. However as we were just looking at one of the many sites with no insight, we were fortunate to be invited to join Lisa Maree who was conducting her walking tour, this was the best thing we did all day. Lisa's knowledge, professionalism and passion for the history of this wonderful city was very apparent. Lisa was extremely accomodating and went out of her way to make sure that everyone in the group was catered for. Highly recommend Lisa. The tour is free but you can offer a tip at the end, this is well worth it.

We learned a lot on this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really oriented us to the city and what it has to offer, its university and history. Lisa was friendly, clear, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. Her map and suggestions for walks, pubs and museum visits were good choices. Overall, a great experience and a highly recommendable tour.

The tour was great. Lisa is an incredibly spontaneous guide and we were hooked from start to finish. She takes you from Oxford hotspots to places you would've never found with other tour guides. Next to that she also took into account that my mom has trouble walking because of a surgery and we couldn't be more thankful for that.
Finally she indirectly convinced us to visit Oxford two days in a row just to revisit and check out some of her recommendations in more detail and we have no regrets of doing so!

Hi Julia! Will you be doing a tour on 20th June late morning or afternoon? We are a family with 3 kids 12/8/5, the older kids love reading and are fans of HP, Narnia etc. We are likely to drive down from London on the 20th morning.
Thanks so much
Mala

I just checked your calendar and noticed that you do not have a tour on 20 June and your tour on 21 June is inly in the afternoon? My son and I will be in Oxford for 2 days, but we already have an appointment on 21st morning. Would there be any chance that you might do a tour on 21 June afternoon?
Written June 12, 2018
Hello! I’m sorry, but there is not going to be any tours running on Thursday the 21st of June as me (the only guide) has booked the day off! The morning tour says Fully Booked as I’ve blocked it from my diary and I won’t be back in time for the afternoon. I am sorry that I won’t get to meet you and your son. The next tour will be on the Friday, 22nd of June at 10:30am. If I don’t get to meet you then I still hope you have a lovely time in Oxford. Lisa.

We can't wait to learn and see Oxford and are looking for a tour that includes information on the city's past, those who walked the streets etc. But we are all also huge Harry and Lewis fans. Would this tour cover all those interests? What would you suggest?
Written June 9, 2018
Hello! Yes, we have a two-hour free walking tour that covers the sights and history of old Oxford town and the famous university and the colleges. We also include many of the Morse, Lewis and Harry Potter filming locations as well. We also point out all the free museums and exhibitions that are on that day. And the best churches, viewpoints, pubs and restaurants. Boat hire, parks and gardens. And the best places to take photos from! You will have plenty of ideas of things to do after the tour finishes. Tickets can be booked for free on the wanderoxford website. We look forward to showing you beautiful Oxford!

Hi! I'm planning to visit Oxford on 30 May 2018. I'll be with my son, 9 years old. We'd like to join you tour to see Oxford colleges and Bodleian Library. Do you plan any tours on 30 May 2018?
Thanks! Elena

Hi Elena
I run free tours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings at 10.30am and one on Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm. They start on Cornmarket Street (opposite KFC). But the 30th of May is a Wednesday, so no tour that day from me. I’m so sorry.
Are you still in Oxford with your son on the Thursday 31st May? There are still places available on that morning tour. You can book places for free on the wanderoxford website.
Lisa.

Hi Victoria, Staff and visitors. I just arrived from Cape Town and would LOVE to have a tour of Oxford, and more specifically the Bodleian Library. Would that be possible at short notice - i.e. today 24, 25 or 26th Mar. How do I join? What does it cost?
Thanks Elroy

Hello,
My friend and I are coming to Oxford on Sunday 14. We are interested by doing a tour but I don't understand if in yours, we go inside the Christ Church, the Bodleian Library or others locations... Please can you tell me more ?
Thank you!
Written May 11, 2017
Hello!
We don't go inside Christchurch College- they do their own tours and will cost £7 per person. I will show you the Bodliean Library, but if you want to go inside you can do one of their own tours costing £1 or £6, depending on what parts you want to see. My tour covers many of the colleges and we usually go inside at least one.
I look forward to meeting you on Sunday!
Lisa.
