Nice Little Station
Aug 2020 • Solo
The railway station in Henley on Thames is just on the edge of the town centre. It is less than 5 minutes to the riverside.

It is at the end of the branch line from Twyford and has very limited facilities. When I visited the ticket office was only open from Monday to Thursday from 7am to midday.

There were no toilet facilities however these were available on the train I travelled on along with wifi and phone charging points. The toilet was also disabled friendly.

The service to Twyford was running every 30 minutes with connections to trains to London and Reading.

Old station revamped badly

The worst of (commuter) stations I've ever used, and that includes the filthy Paris Gard du Leon, trains were fine.

I travel from here to Twyford often when in town from business. Stations serves it's purpose. Clean and orderly. Has a small snack shop for quick eats in the morning. Guy selling tickets in the morning is a tad brash but it's morning for him too. :)

No proper waiting room and periods when the ticket office is closed
Jun 2018
A great station to sit on when it is sunny, plenty of shade and sun if you want it. If it is raining and the ticket office is closed it is not much fun standing and waiting for a train.

The end of the line...

Nice little ticket office, only open Monday to Saturday mornings. There is a machine out of hours. As the train turns around here one can generally get a seat on leaving town (perhaps not during the Regatta). Coming the other way from Twyford the line crosses the Thames at a beautiful spot, and Henley station is well placed for the town, the towpath, and the meadows by the river. You don’t NEED to drive.

Its a train station

If you are going to Henly by public transport the Train is your best bet, with links to London, the rest of the country via Reading, be warned you usually have to get tickets from one of the machines when the the ticket office is closed.

Misery in miniature
Apr 2017 • Solo
How often the machine for delivering tickets is "out of order". Then the ticket office has queues that mean you must get on to the train without a ticket if you dont want to miss the train. Then there is a grumpy conductor on the train who tells you that you ought to have bought a ticket at the station. Ah! how you long for oblivion!

Why Review a Railway Station?
Dec 2016 • Friends
Henley station is nothing but a station and not a very special one. Please don't consider this something to see in Henley which has beautiful sights.
