It's a very short stop but kind of quaint. If you're passing its worth it otherwise I'd wait till you are.

Perfect for families

Always used to visit as a child as it’s very local to me and i loved it. Would definitely recommend to families that like to get the outdoors and could combine it with a walk etc.

Great place

What a surprise. Haven’t visited for ~30 years. A lovely clean and tidy place to stop and read about the Well. Had a lovely little picnic here from the store 2 mins walk away.

Unexpected sight
Feb 2020
It's only really worth a quick stop and it's certainly not a major tourist spot. However it's not something you'd expect to find in an Oxfordshire village and it's interesting to learn the story behind it (there are information boards). The well head has been restored in the last few years and looks very ornate and clearly Indian in design.

Nice place
May 2019 • Couples
Stopped at stoke row which is a delightful village. Took time to see Maharajahs well which is 150 years old. Interesting story of why the well was built and pleased to say well is maintained in good order. Worth a visit and also the surrounding orchard which is very peaceful.

Visited while cycling
May 2019 • Friends
It is really interesting to know how Indian King helped Draught area for many years and also, he helped the village for food. Apparently he didn't visit this place for not even once.

I felt happy after visiting this place. I was doing cycling with locals and they showed me.

Cheers

Little known
May 2018 • Couples
One of the less known tourist sites in Oxfordshire, but definitely worth a visit to this rural area to learn about Indian relations with Britain in 19th century. The well housing design is clearly Indian influence and there is a gilded elephant figure under the canopy.
Looks good but worth a look ?
