Wonderful old church in matchless rural setting

This church is famous for it's seasonal display of snowdrops, but worth a visit at any time. Set in a fold of the Chilterns, miles from the nearest village, it's a good focus for exploring the local footpaths

History and Beauty.

If there is one place in England to visit before you die, then make it this one. Delightful and beautiful, especially in the Snowdrop season. There is much inside the church of interest, but almost nothing on the 19th Century restorations which is a pity. Tranquillity and charm await you.

....... make the effort to view this church steeped in history. There is so much to learn and understand about its heritage. St Botolph was one of the most influential missionaries of the 7th century, and thus there is much to absorb in any trip to this church. There is a serenity that is difficult to describe. You need more time here than you realise or appreciate.

We come here each year for the snowdrops and it is very local to us. Tucked away in a beautiful setting. Don't forget the wellies if you are walking.

Snowdrops and cake
Feb 2019 • Family
We visited this church on one of the snowdrop weekends. The snowdrops are an amazing sight. We walked there from Ewelme so we’re more than ready for our cake when we got there. We got to see inside the church as they had some items for sale inside. It is a very attractive church.

a beautiful Church deep in the countryside
Feb 2018 • Couples
The time to visit here is early spring when the snow drops are out as it fills the graveyard. It is a most interesting church and a quiet haven to quietly sit and take in the tranquility.

Churchyard full of snowdrops in February

Hidden deep in the Chilterns countryside, but worth seeking out to see the fabulous display of snowdrops and aconites in the churchyard in February. At this time the church is open for refreshments at weekends. Nice walk from Ewelme with the option of the going up onto Ridgeway.

Very well hidden treasure of Oxfordshire absolutely fabulous I had several dogs with me including my little Beau dogs. We had a great walk around the church and it was just beautiful.

You’re right on the Ridgeway here so There are some super bridleways and for us to walk as well.

Exquisite little mediaeval village church
Oct 2017 • Friends
Built in the 11th century, this tiny church is a delight, set in the secluded Oxfordshire hamlet of Swyncombe. A feature is the beautifully carved wooden Rood Screen, though us much more recent dating from the early 20th century. The font has a beautifully carved wooden cover. There is a lovely pale blue wooden ceiling. Well worth venturing into the countryside to find this gem of mediaeval religious architecture.
