Jaffe and Neale’s combines being a well-stocked and interesting bookshop with being a delightful cafe.
My wife and I called in soon after arriving in Chipping Norton for a short break. The service was quick and friendly and the cakes - ginger and rhubarb cake and a salted caramel brownie - were delicious. I also managed rapidly to find an ideal book as a present for my young niece.

We were in the town and saw this place and decided to have a look inside. This is an independent bookstore and coffee shop combined. There are some tables upstairs to sit and have coffee at. There are a lot of books here which are all varying and interesting. There is a children's book section which has a little cupboard hide for kids to sit in and read which was good. This is a good little book store to visit. We didn't try the coffee on this visit but a couple of people did.

I pay a visit to this wonderful shop every time I'm in Chippy. I never leave empty handed, or, thanks to their delicious coffee and cake selection, hungry.

A couple of years ago I sought advice from the shop on a book for my 3 year old grandson to read to try and understand and come to terms with an appalling family tragedy. Not only did they find 3 excellent books for me, but they researched the issue and gave me advice and support during a very tough time.

Books, gifts, cards and a relaxing place to while away many hours with like-minded people: my dog even comes too.

My favourite bookshop ever. Thank you x

I asked if babies were allowed, the woman said yes. I asked if they had a child seat, she said yes. After choosing our cakes and sitting down to wait, my toddler daughter was wandering round getting in the way so I decided to just check on the baby seat. The response I got could only be described as a tirade about how the seat was in the basement and there was nothing she could do but look for it which she was going to do but it was in the basement and she'd need to go and look for it. In the basement.
If they didn't have the seat available I would simply have smiled, accepted it and come back another day without the baby. As it was she unleashed so much that our party just stood there open mouthed at the end of it. Needless to say we saved her the trouble of going to the basement and left. Never to return. There were two other staff there incidentally.

This was one of the few places I entered on an exploratory visit to Chipping Norton.
It looked like a sort of cross between a second hand bookshop & a Waterstones but with a cafe .
There were a load of new books, for sale a couple of settees & a cafe counter.
The first thing I noticed was the pungent stench of bitter smelling coffee.
I have a degree in English Literature but I hate coffee for its medical drawbacks.
I havent drunk coffee for 40 years!
There was no room to sit as the settees were being hogged by several family looking persons.
I took one glance at the display of cakes-greasy stodgy bought in bog standard pricey looking stuff & immediately thought "Im outta here".
I was glad to escape the pungent smell, embarrassment of no-where to sit & muggins wasnt going to buy a £12.99 book that was probably £00.01p on E bay or Amazon or in your local second hand shop.
I didnt get half a teaspoonful of pleasure from my visit,

This is a bookshop with a coffee shop attached, all is good except on the small patio at the front they allow customers to smoke, I would wager that very few of their customers actually smoke, they are more intelligent, yesterday however in beautiful sunlight we sat out front with our coffee nearly choking to death with the smoke coming from just one selfish customer, why on earth do they allow people to smoke, never again.

Having expected a quaint bookshop, I was bitterly disappointed to discover that the cafe and nicknacks seem to take up most of the shop. I expected to come away with having purchased a book, but sadly came away empty-handed. The fiction books were hard to locate and when my boyfriend asked where they were, he was treated very rudely and dismissively by a member of staff. Only giving 2 stars because the cafe was fairly good but please REMEMBER YOU'RE A BOOKSHOP!

Excellent little bookshop with cakes and coffee. Worth looking for unusual local books, good for presents! Cakes are a bit too "wholefood" for me, but then I don't like carrot cake. Friendly and well set out.

The hottest day in June for years and we needed coffee and air conditioning. This bookshop cafe fitted the bill. I had a pot of tea, my husband an excellent latte and clementine cake as we sat inside watching the local 'Chippies' at the market place. I ventured upstairs to browse the second hand books but heat drove me back downstairs. Lovely friendly staff.

For a small book shop they have a very well thought through selection of books. Its in a great location and its really worth supporting an independent retailer in my opinion. It is idea to have a browse then a cup of coffee. It is hard however to ignore some miserable staff. No all just some. I would have thought it would a good place to work - clearly not.
