Opening times limited to afternoons. Interesting if you like local history. Some of the names will mean more if you get a free town trail from tourist information for background. There is a huge dolls house which is always a feat of creativity but other than that very little that will entertain children. Twenty five minutes tops and you're done.

We popped in on the off chance not expecting it to be that interesting. From the outside it was not clear what the them of the museum was. It is about the history of Burford and how fascinating it was. Whilst it is small it is packed with loads of artefacts from 500 hundred years ago to relatively recently. Well... More

This is a very small, old-fashioned museum. It tells the story of Burford effectively. Parking is at a premium on the High Street, but you may find something in Sheep Street.

Saw a sign advertising this and decided to pop in. It is a very small museum but there are a few displays about the town, and some local publications about the area. Worth a short visit if you are in the town. Visited with family (adults, not teens, please Tripadvisor change your options!).

The Tolsey museum is a local small museum in the High Street and worth popping into . There is a fabulous dolls house depicting Georgian life made by 90 local residents and other interesting local memorabilia. Burford High Street is really nice , lots of old pubs, quaint shops and even has a shop which sells all types of brushes in... More

The museum is easily overlooked on a drive/ramble through Burford which would seem a great shame. Learn about the history of Burford/Oxfordshire as you look around this early 15th Century Market House HIghly recommended Enjoy

We have visited Burford many times and love the town. We were very lucky to be able to visit the Tolsey Museum on one of our visits and were delighted by the lovely docent who was on staff that day. She was a local lady who chatted with us for quite a long time about the history of Burford and... More

Small, but with some genuinely antique artefacts. Not very well presented, but worth the time spent trying to work out how it all fitted together.

Tools and descriptions of many Trades now almost forgotten can be found in this eclectic Museum. The ancient building where Tolls were collected, next to the old Lock up where a Fire Engine was once housed. Volunteers open The Tolsey from April to October daily (not Mondays) 2 - 5pm.
