Great Outdoor Space for exercise and relaxation
Sep 2021
Lovely park with nice green spaces. Its certainly not short in supply of playful Squirrels darting around. Its ideal for exercising as the terrain is not level but with nice pavements. The park has a variety of tree species and certainly great for relaxing or taking the kids out. It is not a big park so 1 hour should be sufficient time to visit.

Lovely park - but avoid the loo!
Aug 2021
Attractive, well used large park. Had a lovely family picnic on our visit.

Lots of different areas to enjoy including pretty wooded areas, tropical house, plant sales area, formal gardens, play area and a small cafe.

Would be 5 stars except for the horrible toilet near the cafe - I re-read my earlier review from a few years ago - and I said the same thing so no improvements there which is a shame!

Overall all though a very well maintained park and an enjoyable visit had by all.

A shame the pitch and putt course has been shamefully neglected
Aug 2020 • Friends
I was extremely disappointed to find the poor state and quality of the pitch and putt course.
The greens are covered in weeds, twigs and the grass uncut, both on the fairways and on surrounding the greens.
Noone seems to be accountable for maintaining the course, not since the city council cut back the financing for their upkeep.
I was led to believe the garden staff were responsible!
I can see the council closing it for financial reasons before too long.. they seem hell bent on wasting such a great asset.
I would be quite prepared to sweep the greens, put out the flags....
Come on people.. use some common sense. Have some pride, it could be so much better.

During lock-down I occasionally walked down to this park from my flat and have a nice walk in a peaceful environment. Really a nice place to relax and rejuvenate your mind

Great park
Sep 2019
Been bringing our grandchildren here for years and it's a lovely park with a great tropical house for when it's feeling a bit chilly outside. Play area not too bad but a bit tired, needs some new playthings and new ground cover. But the worse thing is the dog people around the cafe. They let their dogs wander around the tables whilst you are drinking and eating, even letting them wander in the cafe sniffing around. Throwing balls whilst sitting at the table sometimes. It spoils it for everyone else. I'm not a dog hater, had one myself for years but was never as irresponsible as some of these people.

Golf course
Apr 2019 • Business
If you're thinking of playing golf here then don't expect to have a good game. The greens are absolutely terrible, people just sitting in the middle of every hole you try and play. They have no signs telling people to keep off and they do nothing about the situation. The grass is patchy with ruff around every green. I think they've just given up on it and to actually charge people is a joke.

Great Park - lots of variety. 👍
Mar 2019 • Couples
A really nice park with lots of different areas to enjoy.

Train sculpture, disused railway tunnels, Pitch & Putt course, beautiful wooded areas, small cafe (which we didn't try), play areas, lovely views, large plant sale area (great prices), formal gardens and more.

Plus, as if that wasn't enough, there is also a gorgeous tropical house with indoor animal sculptures, fish and some really interesting plants and trees.

The only thing that let this lovely park down was the state of the (one and only) toilet - yuk!
