I was extremely disappointed to find the poor state and quality of the pitch and putt course.
The greens are covered in weeds, twigs and the grass uncut, both on the fairways and on surrounding the greens.
Noone seems to be accountable for maintaining the course, not since the city council cut back the financing for their upkeep.
I was led to believe the garden staff were responsible!
I can see the council closing it for financial reasons before too long.. they seem hell bent on wasting such a great asset.
I would be quite prepared to sweep the greens, put out the flags....
Come on people.. use some common sense. Have some pride, it could be so much better.

The grounds are lovely and the general public are quite nice too. But the staff are rude and clearly have a problem with diversity. They look at you in disgust and it doesn’t feel nice when all you want to do is get an ice cream or want to have a go at a bit of golf. I live around there so I go a lot but I always get a horrible vibe from the people who work there, especially at the cafe or the golf hut.

I have just got back from Woodthorpe Park .Dogs running free all over ,thought we would try the Coffee shop ,five dogs milling about growling ,barking at each other, owners shouting at them . We did not even attempt to approach that area .Dogs using the grass as a toilet . not my idea of a safe place to take children .

I often walk through this park, and occasionally take my grandchildren here for a picnic, but it is usually spoilt by irresponsible dog owners, who are convinced everyone loves their dog as much as they do, I love dogs, but I don't want them jumping up at me, sniffing round my food when trying to have a picnic with the kids, plus try and play a game without treading in dog muck!why oh why do the council not have a on-site warden, and the park is plenty big enough to have a area just for dogs, the side of the park that slopes down to the flats would be ideal for dogs, plenty of tree's, kids tend not to go down there.

I play golf on the park regularly, but I am becoming rather disgusted and irate, due to the chavs with dogs who let them crap on the tees, on the fareways and on the grass overall, despite the presence of dog litter bins and the possibility of children and other innocent visitors treading in filthy which they have a responsibility to clean up, but instead find it amusing to leave on the ground. I suspect several of the culprits do this at dusk or nightly and I have witnessed one individual let his dog foul on the course, then merrily run off ignoring it. I at least, have been brought up to respect people around me, property, cleanliness and the environment and if I were to catch or see one of these low lives again, I will rub their dog mess in their faces.
what sort of hovels do they dwell in?

Can't deny this is a lovely park ,cafe is great and play area for children is fantastic
My only proble,m is that there is far far too many irresponsible dog owners who let there dogs run wild whilst they check there stocks ,shares or how much there investments have made whilst walking there dogs.. if you cant control your dog or it has no recall akeep it on a lead ..and apparently all dogs there must be on leads who is policing this policy ....no one

I have been playing golf at Woodthorpe Park on and off, for several years (since 1975).

The course provides you with some challenging short holes and one tricky elevated green on the 14th hole. If your confidence has been dented playing on larger par 3 courses or full size courses, then it is an ideal place to get back to basics, practice your close play, chipping, putting and teeing off.

The course golf 'shop' is ideally positioned adjacent to a delightful coffee shop and the staff in both are always friendly. I would strongly recommend playing here - it takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to play and you will get great satisfaction if you finish in under par 4 (72 shots). I used to play with 3 mates religiously on Sunday mornings, rain or shine, snow or sleet and relish getting around in 60 to 64, with the occasional 2 or the elusive hole in one.

It would be great to see more folks down there and maybe start a regular competition - I have been attending each Wednesday for the past 6 weeks at 12:30 till 2 pm - with a team of professional players from the Riverside Golf Centre, (Jason and Niall) - along with several players of similar skill levels and strengths - and have improved my skills no end - introduced to encourage more people to 'Get into golf'.

It would be great if a crazy golf course could be built next to the club house and play area too - as half of the park is only used by dog walkers - some of whom do not respect the fact that people play on the course and seem to think that they can let their dogs crap on the fairways and refuse to pick up the mess - despite bins being provided for the chavs - some even walk across the fairways as you are playing - quite ignorant as they would be te first to complain if their beloved dogs were hit or God forbid - if they were hit.

Come on down and have around - £5 with clubs, £3 if you have a City card - test your skills - and i'll challenge you to a game - its a laugh , its fun, it will get you back into playing if you've lost the knack or 'drive'.

I have previously commented on my disgust of the actions of some individuals on the park, who are ruining the enjoyment of the majority by their selfish and arrogant behaviour.
They have sunk to a new low - on Tuesday 23rd May, a dog owner intentionally placed dog excrement into the 13th hole! Behaviour of this despicable manner is blatantly targeting the golf players and these people if they can be regarded as people and not vermin, are not welcome on the park - maybe they have not been brought up in respectable, balanced homes and are in dire need of instructions in how to behave in public.

Lovely park. Really feel intimidated for my children by roaming dogs. This is not acceptable. Have a dog myself but would not let it run amongst the general public . Not everyone loves a dog or knows he won't hurt you

Great potential and many improvements made in the last few years to develop it as a local destination.

Gardens, mini golf, wild areas, café and lots of visitors.

A great place to stroll and sit.

Agree with the other comments tho' - the dogs are let loose here by many owners and it is in danger of becoming a huge dog toilet and therefore driving away the non dog owners.

Recommend that they section off a dog area before this develops too bad a reputation.
