- Bev SLincoln, United Kingdom147 contributionsI attended a Pensioners lunch on Wednesday, the 11th of December. Lovely venue good greeting with the drink and the menu which we had pre-selected looked on paper very tasty. However in reality three courses left me very hungry. The first course duck spring rolls with a plum sauce, pickle, cucumber, chilli and spring onion salad was delightful and thoroughly enjoyed, although others on my table complained that it was very cold the next course I selected rolled rib beef fondant potato, grilled tomato or mushrooms in a peppercorn sauce. And that was exactly what it was no veg whatsoever, even though those that had turkey had Brussels sprouts carrots beans et cetera. It was half a tomato a couple of wild mushrooms in the sauce and fondant potato. The desert read - saffron, poached pear, mulled wine syrup, pear, vanilla, and ginger, compote and meringue. What I received was a white pear cooked well but absolutely no flavour whatsoever and certainly not any flavour of saffron which would’ve turned it yellow. the mulled wine syrup was a couple of little spots on the plate which you couldn’t decipher what it was there was no pear vanilla and ginger compote at all and the meringue was a couple of very small soft pink crumbs. I was very disappointed and only the day before I’d attended another golf lunch which left me completely full plenty of veg for everybody After this lunch I went straight home and cook some tea. !! I have to say the waiting staff worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble.Visited December 2024Traveled on businessWritten December 12, 2024
- Besh9The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom13 contributionsWe enjoyed some aspects of the Nottinghamshire but there were some frustrations. On the plus side the rooms are modern and clean. The staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. The golf courses are fine for a resort environment. However from a negative standpoint the rooms get extremely hot and there is no air conditioning which makes sleeping uncomfortable in the summer months. The breakfast is a disaster with low quality food and a lack of choice. Everything is put hours earlier so it is cold and the eggs are not regularly replenished. There is no manager overseeing the restaurant and a shortage of staff.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 5, 2024
- leismsIpswich, United Kingdom150 contributionsAn awesome golf venue, great welcome, comfortable rooms, super shower! Staff are really friendly and a great atmosphere in the bar and lounge. Laura Baker and her team work so hard and always with a smile. Few issues at breakfast with eggs and sausages running out but better fresh cooked than drying under heat lamps I guess. Pro Shop staff are excellent and everything so well organised, 2 stunning courses, we can’t wait to return!Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 26, 2024
- RichardOldfieldClerkenwell, United Kingdom2,968 contributionsTried the £16 for 2 courses. In terms of value for money then you’d struggle to go wrong for that price and the scampi was “ok” and the gammon with pineapple - both dishes with a lot of good proper chips, was good. Our only issue is the condiments - we hate those little plastic packets/tubes of mustard, tartare sauce etc etc - cheap and nasty… hardly synonymous with such an establishment. Good service Great viewVisited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 19, 2024
- M MWhaley Bridge, United Kingdom104 contributionsThe rooms were functional, but no safe or fridge. However, they were let down by very poor breakfasts. ( 30 minutes to get a poached egg, and other food not topped up). The dinners were lovely, so no problem there!! When we had a problem it was impossible to get to speak to someone, as it seemed to be very intermittent when there was someone on reception. I feel there must be a problem with staffing, as this seemed to be the problem.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 29, 2024

I made a few calls and emails with Rachel Golf's events Manager, who sorted all the bookings, and ensured all went well. Great service
We had the best Captain away days, and the quality of service provided by the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, first-time visitors, 29 of us for two days, all the staff were fantastic in looking after the group, and not one complaint from anyone.
Excellent evening meals and Breakfast, two good days, highly recommended. Rooms are all kitted out for what's needed.
The Guys in the Pro shop are well helpful. We bought vouchers so they could choose the winner's prizes. Great thought. Sorted the buggies out, and nothing was a problem.
We played the Championship course with plenty of balls required but optional if you are a sensible golfer.

Lovely receptionist, very helpful
The Entrance door to the hotel building we stop in was broken and didn’t shut properly. The bathroom shower was mouldy, upon running the shower black mould was appearing everywhere. The hand held shower head cap came off. Bed where comfortable and room was spacious. We had a good night sleep but little details such as the shower and doors need to be addressed.
Now where do I start with the restaurant!! We decided to eat in the restaurant, we wish we hadn’t. We waited for over 15 mins before someone bothered to ask us if we had been given a menu let alone taken a drinks order. All staff where like bees to honey when it came to standing at the bar even when there was nobody there. When we eventually had an order taken and food was given to us. There was no check backs, we even tried to get the attention of a member of staff so we could get another drink. I had to get up and get a drink from the bar. Staff have no care in the world for a good service or customer experience. We couldn’t be bothered getting a dessert as we knew that would be too painful. We asked for the bill, the young girl asked we if wanted a minute to look over the bill. What a mistake, we thought she would be back over in 5 mins with the card machine. How we where wrong, yet again we had to go and pay at the bar. Bare in mind there was only us and one other table in the restaurant and about 7 staff.
We felt tired from the whole experience.

Went to a weddingof some dear friends and expected a top level place with top level service, the weddingwas fantastic, but the hotel. 100 to be served as the bar opens and they have 1 person serving, you can imagine the chaos. Check into the room to be told a higher price than quoted, despite having confirmation and end up arguing with the receptionist.
Visit the room to find the heating doesn't work, call reception but no answer. Visit reception to find no one there. Had to bother the barman, Cameron, who I must add was brilliant, who first tried to fix the heating, admitted defeat, then proceeded to source another room. In the mean time I had discovered that the heater was connected to a timer in another area of the room and that had been disabled. The starter for the wedding was described as mushrooms however turned out to be 1 small flatcap mushroom with a sliver of what I believed to be stilton, which was stone cold.
The main course steak was beautiful, but the fruit crumble was all fruit and no crumble.
The room was lovely and had a very comfortable super king bed and the annexe was quiet.
Looking forward to breakfast after a busy day before we entered the restaurant. What a disappointment. No tea in the tea urn, no fresh juices, cold plates on the warmer and cold food on the buffet. Also a member of staff who seemed to think talking was more important than resolving the shortages. Having requested the food to be microwaved a delay of 5/6 minutes ensued beforeI had to ask for it to be returned. All in all the hotel promises much, charges accordingly and in most cases fails miserably to deliver. I would not recommend this to anybody. There are far better places locally for the same or less money that actually seem interested in the customer. They seem more focused on the golf course than the hotel, so if youre a golfer its great, but don't stay over. I must put in a good word for the only staff that we received any level of service from and they were Cameron and Charlie. If the rest had their commitment then it would have been great , however no

The Management needs to change. The hotel has lots of potential but the staff need training. Our television didn’t work so we were told to watch it on our phone on You Tube! Staff not particularly interesting in serving the food. We had to ask for mugs at breakfast . They were brought one a time being swung on the thumb and finger as they approached us.

Stayed with a sizeable group of friends from Leicestershire and Lincolnshire over a weekend on a Sunday Driver. We only played the Championship Course during our stay due to us leaving to watch our late QE2’s funeral at home.
The course is typical of a corporate hotel style set up, generally flat with ditches and water hazards yet wide fairways and built up banks to the rear of the greens to reduce the likelihood of running through the back. It was enjoyable but not sure I’ll remember many of the holes. Greens were fairly fast and receptive.
We stayed in The Residence and our room was indeed lovely as was the shower room/bathroom. Usual tea coffee tray complete with biscuits, and a very small offering of toiletries. Nice towels but no robes or any other nice little extras.
We stayed on a B&B basis with evening meal, whilst the breakfast was ok and everything even tea and coffee is self service, the evening menu left a lot to be desired. All the dishes seemed to be a tad dry and nothing to write home about.
Our main concern and those of others amongst our group was the apparent lack of staff when it came to the bar and restaurant. All of our group seemed to be hanging around for ages before anyone became available to serve us and it wasn’t particularly busy.
We’re staying again in few weeks time, so we’ll see if they are any changes. I hope so otherwise it’ll be chaos in the bar.

I was surprised that this hotel was not as it seemed online. Check in was ok. Building where room was, was not near the front "office/pro shop" area. When getting to our room we went into a separate building that felt like it had not been visited in a long time. Our room was not clean. Found at least 6 spiders. I think every corner of the room had one. Bathroom floors were dirty. Mattress sizes are also not as expected online. Queen size is more like a twin or full from the USA and not explained as such on any booking site (we used Expedia )
Visited restaurant. Food was decent but service was lacking.

As a local resident, we have used and recommended this venue on numerous occasions but after our recent visit it is unlikely that we will return. The standard of service was extremely poor - we waited over 2.5 hours to complete one drinks order and a light bite. The existence of sanitising the tables after being used was non-existence in fact the tables were not even wiped after people had vacated their tables, this leaving left over food on the tables. It was clearly evident that the staff were inexperienced and lacked any type of training for the type of work required. The two females that appeared to have some kind of authority were more interested in providing ice creams to the minors that had succeeded in practicing their golf skills.
Hopefully our experience was a one off "blip" however the management would be advised to take a review on why the overall levels have declined.

We came in for a table of 2 as we wanted a bit of lunch on 16/07/21, however we left quite disappointed to say the least...
Firstly, Jane was very lovely and ensured we were seated to and looked after immediately. So thankyou Jane!
Our drinks order of only a lime and a soda and a j2O took around 25 mins to arrive. I then asked for some straws for our drinks, but the waiter only bought 1 in his hand. Whilst walking towards our table, the waiter played with the straw in his hands until he handed it over to me. This was just very unhygienic and i certainly didn't use it...
Our food then came out around 1 hr later, the waiter placed our food on table without saying a word and just walked away. We had to continuously get up and ask for 2 plates, basic condiments and also some cutlery. Lastly, there was no check back to see if our food was okay or if we needed anything else, such as more drinks. As we then went to pay, instead of attending to us, one of the bar team was directly stood infront of us leaning against the back of the bar on his phone. This overall customer service was very poor unfortunately. We didn't expect this at all since we have been a few times before to eat and drink.
Above all, Siobhan, Shaun & Natalia were amazing as always, their customer service skills were excellent, so thankyou to you three.

While I have no doubt that the golf course and facilities are all good, I have to say that the administration side of things is shocking. I booked a society of 20 golfers for late Dec 2020. I had to pay the full amount (£28p/p) in advance. On the day, they closed the course due to bad weather. Then we had a covid lockdown. Obviously non of these are the Nottinghamshire's fault. When we were allowed to rearrange our day I'm told that we have to pay £45p/p or wait until November. So I asked to cancel and take the refund. Then the fun and games begin. You get past from person to person via email and as yet NO REFUND. Has to be my worst experience of a golf course that I've experienced.

The service in this place is diabolical. Ordered a steak to be told no steak sauces after it was served. Cooked wrong. No sauce for my meal either. Asked for no tomatoes. Got tomatoes. We were given cheap sachets of sauces to accompany our meals. When I spent 80 pounds on a nice meal for me and my friends birthday.
The kitchen manager spoke to us like dirt. Didn’t apologize once and almost seemed like she wanted to fight me. Very bizarre.
I simply don’t know how places like this are still running with service this bad.

Hi Pete,
Thank you for your question. Both courses are quite flat and The Championship is the longest of the two at 5891 yards.
If you do feel you may require a buggy we have a fleet of 19 that can be hired from The Pro Shop for £20 per round, although there are only a few left on Sunday.
You can call the Pro Shop on 0115 933 3344 to secure.
Regards.
