Lovely local Micropub
Mar 2018
We called in for a 'cheeky one' after shopping just as it opened. Whilst local to us its one of those places where you say 'we must go' but never get round to it, but this time we did.
Nice small and friendly micropub with good selection of draft beers and ciders. Clearly a local pub where people 'call in' or meet friends very relaxed and friendly. Dog friendly and all you could want really, we will be back

Great ciders and a cosy and welcoming pub

Been here a few times with family and recently on my own. This small, yet cosy micropub is a must for real ale and cider fans. Pub landlord is very friendly and welcoming to regular and new customers

Friendly staff, decent real ale
Nov 2016 • Solo
Friendly staff, decent real ale. A real fire, newspapers, board games and dog-friendly. Dogs are optional! The pub is unusual, and exciting and risky to visit only if you drink too much alcohol...

Small. Friendly. Deservedly popular.

Small. Friendly. Sociable and community-minded. Deservedly popular.
3 or 4 real ales, 3 or 4 ciders. Also do wine, but no spirits.
Cheese and onion cobs £1 !
Board games, pub quiz nights.
What's not to like? Unless you want gin. Give gin a miss for once.

Nice little micro pub opposite the old brewery, great beer and a little different. Has a lot of old memorable items from
Brewery days gone past.

Worth a visit

Welcoming to everyone
Jun 2016
This was the local sweet shop when I was just a youngster. Interesting to see what it has changed into. Warm welcome, small but not overcrowded, good choice of ales, friendly atmosphere, no shot or lager louts, recommend you try, you won't be disappointed.

Cracking little watering hole, small and cosy with friendly owners and locals. It's a pub stripped back to the basics of what makes a great pub. Consistently good beer and cider, sharing tables and conversation with the locals, an open fire, dogs and kids welcome. No music, TVs, slot machines or food (apart from cheese cobs on the bar).

As mentioned in other reviews it has unusual opening times, so check before you visit. Also a little hard to spot hiding in a parade of shops but well worth seeking out.

Friendly local with interesting beers
Dec 2015 • Couples
Small, friendly and unusual micropub in a Grade II listed building opposite the old Home Brewery. Always an selection of a few interesting beers & ciders. The only shame is that it closes early (I guess that's restrictions by the licensing authority rather than by choice)

Small & perfectly formed - charming quirky little place!

Went on a Sunday afternoon to hear friends play music. Reasonable prices, sell snacks too!

Nice atmosphere and friendly locals.

just check the opening times to avoid disappointment and a wasted journey as it shuts quite early and not open every day.

will return!

small and cheerful
Sep 2015 • Couples
it's a proper individual family pub, not an out of the box corporate creation - the landlords are friendly, the beer is well kept and you can hear yourself think.
