Average cocktails
The Living Room has been a staple of the Nottingham bar scene for longer than I care to remember. Alas, my most recent experience left my wondering why.

The cocktails were average, bordering on the perverse (I mean, a whisky sour without egg white? Hello?!). But it was more than that. The atmosphere was very flat.

You would expect the place to be packed at 9pm on a Friday night. Instead, half empty. Perhaps I went on a quiet night.

All in all, a bit disappointing.

Terrible manager and service
Aug 2014
After buying 2 rounds of over priced drinks, the manager came up and took the table we were sat at for the VIP area.
"Is our money not as good as their money"

I am sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory experience at The Living Room. Our cocktail prices are clearly displayed in our drinks menu, if are unsatisfied with your drinks in any way we would ask that you make this clear to a member of the bar team or management so that we can rectify the problem before continuing with a second round of drinks. Our VIP area operates with a £250 minimum spend per table, which includes table service from our VIP host. Whilst we are happy to allow guests not wishing to incur the minimum spend to use the area in quieter times, we must ask that you move to the bar area when our VIP reservations arrive. I loved this place. The food, setting and ambiance is great. I had the sea bass which was awesome. Our waiter Dan was very attentive and accommodating.

Rude doormen
Jun 2014 • Friends
We went here as part of a large group. My husband checked with the doormen that he was okay to leave to get some cash and that he could come back. When he returned the doormen would not let him back in and laughed at him when he said that his friends were inside. They wouldn't even let him in to get me and his phone was out of battery. When I went looking for him, the doormen wouldn't listen to me and eventually we had to leave without the rest of our group. This thoroughly ruined our evening and I would not go back out of principal.

What happened?
5 or 6 years ago this was the best cocktail bar in nottingham. Bar none. It really seemed one of few places that had truly skilled bartenders and not minimum wage students making drinks. It seems they have changed tack and it's a shame. The things that stood this place apart have slowly vanished. While still Ok, it's nothing like it used to be. It's a little pricey, but used to worth it as you felt your cocktails were being made by a professional who genuinely cared. Not so sure now.

Worst service I have ever experienced!
I have been to The Living Room several times with friends to "kick off" my evenings out and regularly find myself disappointed by the disgraceful customer service, however, my last visit was the worst. After waiting over half an hour at the bar (confirmed by another group also waiting as long) whilst others who had only just arrived being served in front of ourselves, I was greeted (or should I say grunted at) by a less than cheerful barman. I politely asked for two drinks, believing he hadn't heard me the first time I repeated myself a little louder. He very rudely replied he was waiting for my please!!! Although many customers around me confirmed I had in fact used my P's and Q's as required he then proceeded to explain I was now being sarcastic. I apologised although I was absolutely no way in the wrong but I was beginning to lose hope of ever getting a drink. I explained that both parties had been waiting half an hour and understood he was very busy, the barman then decided to remove our drinks from in front of us and told using expletives to go else where for our drinks. I was in complete disbelief and when the gentleman next to me tried to purchase the drinks on our behalf the barman flatly refused to serve him also!

I regularly entertain clients from all over the world and The Living Room has often been a destination for pre/post dinner drinks as it has a lovely atmosphere rarely found elsewhere. This unfortunately will no longer be the case.
