Hen do!

Went on Trent river cruises for my hen do. It was absolutely brilliant the staff are very accommodating and really do their best to ensure everyone has a good time. The music was pretty calm for the dinner and then gets going later on. I think it was reasonably priced and while it’s not a 5* meal there is something for everyone and really we were booking to do something that was fun and felt special.

Good food and a great experience

We had a really good trip on the river. We only booked a couple of days before and they were very accommodating. We boarded quite early but were almost immediately offered drinks which were regularly topped up throughout. The boat had been adapted for social distancing which meant you couldn’t leave your seat, but this was fine really and didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment! Food was served promptly after we set off - roast pork with lots of veg, all really nicely done and very tasty. Choice of puddings on offer for which my wife and I went for Apple Crumble and Ice Cream, which was also delicious. The trip down the Trent was nice, and the staff were really friendly - lots of banter with us. Thank you for a lovely experience, would heartily recommend.

Amazing, relaxing, memorable whole family outing

Excellent service from booking to the actual cruise. The lady who booked our dates was friendly and informative, kept us updated on times and made the booking easy to follow. The cruise staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, from being greeted at the gates to inviting us aboard. We had a baby with us, a high chair was provided and the lovely lady member of staff made such a fuss of my granddaughter, we thought she was lovely. The food was plentiful and fresh, we had afternoon tea and the coffee and tea flowed until we had drunk enough. The male crew members were really friendly and informative too, we all had a fantastic afternoon and will definitely return and recommend to friends. My family age range on the day was 6 months to 81 years old and each one of us had a fabulous experience on the afternoon tea cruise. Big thank you to all staff members

Awful do not waste your money

Absolutely rude and hostile staff especially the catering team who acted like it was a burden to cater for us. One member in particular was extremely rude and told us to get out of the way when trying to board and actually argued with us when we asked for baby changing facilities.
What sort of service is this? You should not offer boat cruises if you only want a certain type of crowd. Do not waste your hard earned cash on such rubbish when there is so much more out there to do.

Afternoon Tea cruise

My family and I have just had a lovely relaxing two hour cruise. The food was fresh and tasted good …. The chef was lovely. I would perhaps update the background music but the service was great. If you want a calm and relaxing few hours this is ideal. My 70 year old mum really enjoyed it and my 16 year enjoyed the yummy cakes!!!!

Yogi's cruise experience

On 7th September today we went this cruise,on heading with this company given best of our expectations, full package that includes on arrival tea and coffee served and follow afternoon lunch.capton of ship and two beautiful ladies Called (Barbara and Cossie) excellent service with smile. Well looked after us. Food is beyond our expectations. Hope we will his service again. We thanks to Trent river cruise and his staff.

AVOID!! An absolutely Dreadful carvery meal

I will start by being positive. The staff were friendly and the boat journey smooth on a warm clear evening, we set off on time. We were hosting a group of French guests and their faces told it all. The food was the worst meal I have ever been served. Yes, even worse than school dinner!! The option was pork or beef, my pork was dry and my guest sent her beef back. The vegetables - broccoli, and peas were tasteless mush, the carrots while retaining their shape were also tasteless. The roast potatoes were soft, the new potatoes were passable but again tasteless. The 'geriatric hospital' smell of boiled cabbage at 7pm was ominous; clearly the broccoli was overcooked at that time and was then kept warm until served at ~8pm. I selected fruit salad as desert, which was pleasant, however, the other guests said the apple crumble was overcooked There is no excuse for serving the appalling meal we received, I didn't make negative comment at the time as I didn't wish to offend the organiser who had put considerable time and effort into arranging the evening. However, I made my opinion very clear to the staff after disembarking AVOID!!!

Thank you for your review. I was somewhat taken aback to read your comments as they are contrary to approximately 92% of our reviews, which are all 4 & 5 star reviews, the vast majority of which appertain to our Carvery Cruises. Trent River Cruises takes all feedback/reviews and comments very seriously, especially when they are of a negative nature, and goes to great lengths in investigating the reasons behind such comments and takes severe action, should they be proven to be true. To that ends, I have extensively interviewed all the crew from your sailing and they did not receive any negative comments at all on the night of the cruise, other than from yourself. In fact, they remember many of the passengers returning to the Carvery for second helpings. I have also reviewed the comment cards that were left by pasengers from your cruise and I can categorically state, and prove, that they are contrary to the majority of the comments you have made. In addition, I have contacted the named organiser of the function (who also happened to be one of the French guests) for her opinion.Your party organiser's reply stated "I asked some of the English and French guests, and they told me that it was correct for the price. Even some of them wanted to eat more, as they liked it. The vegetarians also seemed to appreciate their dish". She also made specific reference to the crumble, "On the whole, French people have appreciated the apple crumble, and they enjoyed the trip" and finally,"To summarise, on the whole my guests were happy of the food, the ambiance, the service, and the trip considering a reasonable price. The staff was very welcoming, and patient to wait for those who were a little bit late" One of the issues with catering for a small number of passengers on a Carvery Cruise is that we cannot do what we usually do, which is to offer one joint of meat rarer than the other, to accommodate personal preference. With just the one joint, we have to go for a happy medium in the full knowledge that it will be too rare for some whilst being over cooked for others. (It should also be pointed out at this point that the beef that we use is locally sourced mature beef that doesn't have the same amount of fluid content as some cuts, which in turn, can cause the meat to appear more well-done than it actually is.) As with the meat, a similar scenario exists with the vegetables. Some people like them "Al Dente" whilst others prefer them to be soft! I am pleased that you enjoyed your river cruise as this is our primary function, with all other elements being secondary. We are not a restaurant, although on many occasions our food has been compared to, and has been said to have been better than, some 5* establishments. We take great pride in all that we do and, having thoroughly investigated, on this occasion it would appear that your views are very much in the minority. As an additional note, when it comes to there being "no excuses", the only thing that I have found there being no excuse for, is the way you "made your opinion very clear" to our youngest and most junior member of staff, at the gate, as you left the premises, having previously had the chance to make any comments to both the Captain and also the Chef who were both at the disembarkation point! Very disappointed

A few friends and I arranged this cruise for an all girls 30th birthday celebration.
We were very, very disappointed. The boat was old, rickety dated, and not clean. We had two shirtless waiters ( which unfortunately we're not attractive and very hairy) that's the last thing you want to see serving your food! Food was very mediocre, over cooked sausages & room temp. Chicken BBQ legs. There wasn't an actual dance floor a couple tables were moved which a hen party was using, so basically it was their dance floor, as that big group filled the tiny space up.
It wasn't until Othe drinks started flowing, and I was I an alcohol induced acoma did I finally start having a good time. :(. Very sad because this boat ride was not cheap!
The only good thing was the large bus that took us to the club, it could have been a dinky minibus.
I do not recommend this boat, at all!

Thank you for taking the time to review our services, we are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your experience with us. Your review goes against the norm in several areas and, this being the case, it has led to a full review of the cruise you refer to by myself. Here are my findings: - The boat that you joined was the older of our two vessels but I can assure you, it is far from rickety. This is substantiated by the fact that it is subject to three surveys/inspections annually by our regulatory body The Maritime Coastguard Agency, who are the marine sector of the Department of Transport. With reference to the boat being dirty, although the boat had been sailing earlier in the day it had been cleaned thoroughly in all areas twice prior to you boarding as is recorded in our cleaning records that form legal documents and are checked and then signed off by the Captain of the day. The boat was also cleaned again at the end of the evening. With regard to the waiters, they are like wine not always to everyone taste. Although having said that, the lads in question are very, very, popular. The age of the boat is normally one of its unique selling points as it portrays a cosy feeling with its bay seating and ambient lighting, as is the fact that it is the only boat on the river that prepares and cooks its food in the on-board galley which is 5* rated by the Food Standards Agency. I have checked the recorded temperatures of both the cooked and holding temperatures on your particular cruise and they are both above the minimum permitted. Over the years we have come to realise that in an attempt to cater for all taste preferences, it is a prudent move to have available a small percentage of “well done” food available. Seating on our party night is provided for all for dining purposes. After everyone has eaten we then provide a dance floor by clearing away the majority of the tables on the lower deck. There is also a secondary dancefloor available on the upper deck should it be requested. Due to the severity of your review I have contacted the other parties who were sharing your night. I respect that your review is your personal thoughts of our services, it would appear however, not to be reflected by other two parties, one of which enjoyed it that much they are repeating it again later in the year.

What a great trip

What a great way to spend an afternoon sailing along the river Trent. We sailed on the Trent Lady on the 3 hour carvery trip As we were pensioners it only cost us £19 each great value as this included the fantastic 3 Course carvery meal. It was a wonderful trip We were shown all the local landmarks which included a very informative presentation. The thee course meal was exceptional both in quality and value for money. I must mention the Chef what a great guy whatever they are paying him its not enough he was superb and nothing was too much trouble for him and he didn't skimp on the servings of Beef & Pork either. The drinks on board were at pub prices which was a bonus. We can fully recommend this experience as it is one not to be missed. We traveled from Walsall to go on this trip well worth the journey believe me. Hope to be back in September and we are hoping to take the Grandchildren on the Santa cruise near to Christmas that sounds really great for the kids. Well done all at Trent River cruises. Oh and a big Thank you to Mo in the office
for fixing us up at short notice your efforts are appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us on our mid week carvery cruise, we are particularly fond of our Carvery Cruises ourselves as they give us a chance to showcase what can be produced from our on-board galley and generally give our passengers a chance to get to know our team directly (all of which tend to be characters in their own rights!). On behalf of the motley crew we look forward to welcoming you back on-board in September and assure you that if you do decide to take one of the Santa Cruises that will be an experience that you will talk about for years to come. Girls Night Out on the Trent lady

This was such a fun night, nine of us were on a Hen do. Gve it a miss if you are shy or dont like looking at a man's private parts! If you dont want to be fondled say so and they are ok with that, respectful gents! Show you want it.....and you'll get it! The ''waiters'' ha ha start off in trousers and a dickie and remove clothing as the night goes on... until nude.
Disco is great, plays what you ask for (although it wasnt the usual DJ)
Food really nice, BBQ, salad, bread, seconds if you want it.
Drinks cheap £3.05 for double vodka and coke, shots start from £2, can be take a bit of time to get sserved (not too bad) as its a little bar with one serving.
Bus to Oceana a great idea, loved the 80'S room here, fab time had by all!
