Relatively minor Covid 19 related alterations have resulted in the feel of a traditional snug. I felt safe and relaxed whilst enjoying a thoroughly preventing or two. Well worth a visit!

Small sitting room type pub on the outskirts of Nottingham, well serviced by busses and about a 25 minute walk from the centre. Good selection of beers on tap, lots of bottle options too. Visited on a Sunday evening and there was a nice buzz of chat with regulars coming and going. Lovely atmosphere, very comfy, friendly staff, definitely worth a return visit.

The Doctors Orders micropub only opened in December 2012 so is a relatively new place in the Carrington district of Nottingham just before you reach Sherwood. Doctors Orders is a micropub based at the site of a former pharmacy, hence the name.

It is a unique community venue, selling real ales, ciders, a selection of wines and soft drinks.
It does not, however, sell conventional pub fayre like lager or spirits but if you are open-minded you are sure to find a real gem amongst the many well kept (& served) varieties of ale and cider provided by this "small is beautiful" unique venue.

The micropub has seating for less than 30 people in a single basic front room. If you've never been to a micropub before there is no bar, instead there is table service provided by one of the three kindly hosts (Rob, Rich & Prakash). There is no muzak, TV or gaming machines and it is a mobile phone free zone to boot!

As a result, it is a refreshing suburban oasis of peace, calm and good company in a lovely part of Nottingham and only a 5 minutes bus ride from the city centre. I'd say it is a female friendly place to go. Also from the comments of people visiting Nottingham and on their own, it is a welcoming safe haven. It is the sort of place where you will meet the friends you have yet to know or at least have an entertaining evening with lively conversation!.

You can read the paper, have a chat with others in this sole room establishment or maybe participate in a board game, if you fancy!

It is very handily located on the Mansfield Road (A60) with a bus stop nearby. It is near the Lidl supermarket and a few hotels, such as the Westminster, Grosvenor, the Gables B&B and the Park Inn.

Prices are very reasonable and brews are sourced from around the UK, with a good local focus.

You can even bring your well behaved dog to this micropub!

Give it a whirl. A great place to start your night out, with Hotel/Bar Deux and the Gladstone Inn nearby....

The website and twitterfeed gives the current opening hours and what's on drinkwise!

They might claim to have a warm welcome, but I am still smarting from being told to my face from the female host, that she didn't take kindly to 'her perceived' alcohol abuse, when I simply asked for two ciders for myself at 10.25pm, my first & last drinks. I complained to the Manager, but he thought nothing of the matter to warrant further thought.
Oh well.. drink there if you want to be scolded and treated as a child!

Doctor's Orders Micropub is a great place to visit if you like beer. Most of the beers are locally sources and all are from micro breweries. All the ales are served from the cask at the correct temperature giving you a perfect pint. You can also have real cider (not that horrible fizzy stuff) or a good glass of wine or soft drinks.

The atmosphere is very friendly. There is always someone to talk to and, how wonderful, there is no tv, no music and no flashing gaming machines.

It is a small and intimate room, no bar, comfy chairs and women are quite happy to go into this pub on their own - like me!

Definitely a place to visit again and again.

A tiny place - I'm reluctant to write too glowing a review, in case you all come and grab one of the 4 tables when I'm after a sit down and a quiet drink. Doctor's Orders is a micropub, co-owned by 3 delightful local folk, selling a small range of good quality wines, ciders and beers - the latter very often locally-sourced. It has newspapers, board games, a water bowl for your dog, fentiman's for the drivers, a convivial atmosphere, drinks at suburban not city centre prices... there's about 8 bus routes stop almost directly outside the door... and there's no bar, meaning one of the proprietors will bring your drink on a silver tray :)

Doctor's Orders is a small micro pub on the outskirts of Nottingham north of the City. It is well worth visiting as it is a friendly place with table service. The prices are reasonable and it won't be long before someone is talking to you!

You enter this unique micro pub - Nottingham's first - and immediately feel comfortable. You're greeted by a friendly smile from one of the owners and make your choice of beer from a list on the wall. You sit down and your beer is brought to you at your table. And if you want to chat most everyone in there is keen to enjoy conversation. The beers on offer (bitters, stouts, porters and milds) vary from day to day both in strength and type and do not disappoint! Good wine, excellent cider and soft drinks are also on offer as well as crisps and stuff. Great place and one to return to regularly

This is a little place that welcomes anyone, those with dogs are especially popular and they have a stash of biscuits for them. It’s cosy. This place specialises in ales so I’m not their target customer as I’m a wine drinker and unfortunately can’t stand their Sauvignon Blanc. As it got busier we had to budge around to let others sit with us then unfortunately felt a bit disappointed as they then spoke a lot louder and it put an end to our time there and we went elsewhere. Generally I do like it there but help more if you’re a regular or if you have a dog.

This is our local and it is simply fabulous. Great ales which change regularly, excellent ciders and bar snacks too. Good prices. Table service by the delightful staff that work there.
Only downside is that it is becoming far too popular....
also somewhere that as a woman I feel comfortable to pop in for a drink on my own
