Back to the Theatre
Oct 2021
First visit to the Theatre Royal for over two years, covid signs and sanitisers a plenty, but it was just like it use to be which is fine by me (but maybe not others, just in case you need to know), great entertainment to see the musical 9 to 5, Dolly was on video screen, some good numbers and plenty of energy, at last live entertainment is back, bye Covid.

Brilliant with humour and excellent original ideas of motivation in your life.
Sure he swears a bit but so does everyone I know.
Not for kids, they would be bored.

Not recommended if you’re nervous about Covid-19.
Oct 2021 • Couples
We went to see, ‘A Comedy of Errors’ for which I would give 4 stars. However taking my experience as a whole I found it somewhat unnerving because of the lack of covid measures. I estimate less than 5% of the audience wore masks and we were packed together, i.e. no social distancing measures. This isn’t entirely the theatre’s fault of course. Hand sanitizer was available and there were a few signs about wearing masks but that’s all.
I’m mentioning this in case it’s important to anyone booking. If you’re happy with these arrangements I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself however I won’t be going again for the foreseeable future.

Elegant, traditional theatre.
Sep 2021
I visited Nottingham's Theatre Royal last month, to see "Blood Brothers" and had a very enjoyable time. The play was extremely well acted, the acoustics and sound were excellent and the style/decor of the theatre is gorgeous. Stepping into the auditorium is like going back to a more elegant period of time, with exquisite Corinthian pillars, a beautiful chandelier in the centre of the ceiling and walls and balconies painted in an extremely classy shade of army green. The only reason I'm not giving full quota of points is because I sat at the edge of the auditorium and the view was VERY slightly restricted, but it wasn't a major problem and there was a warning of this when I booked the ticket. Overall, a wonderful theatre and a very enjoyable play.

Exeptional evening lovely venue and lovely ballet
Oct 2021 • Couples
We stayed at harts Hotel so we were a few minuits away from the theatre, it was well laid out beautiful bars seating areas to each of the galleries and a lovely baroque auditorium. We were here for the last night of the ballet Merlin, Exeptional choreography and dance, in each of the acts the quality of the dance was beautiful a story that was set to dance that was understandable, without words just by form grace and movement we both loved it choreographed by Drew Mc onie the Oliver award winning choreographer, from baz loans strictly ballroom it was an enchanting spectacle and we loved it theatre staff were exellent we both loved the story but the dance was a real pleasure!!!

Poor management
Sep 2021 • Couples
If I could give 0 I would. ROYAL CONCERT HALL. Unruly group of people, worse for wear, turned up just as the main show began and spoilt the whole event we had waited to see for more than a year and the staff did nothing to prevent or stop them being a nuisance. They were constantly talking, using phones, standing up and talking to other members of their group during the show and staff just stood by and watched.

From the minute we had got to the concert hall it was utter chaos inside the building with staff not knowing where you need to go to get to the correct seating area. Badly managed all round and poor response from management when you inform them of your disappointment. They take your money then are not concerned if someone spoils the evening.

Certainly wouldn’t recommend this venue to watch a concert.

Wonderful shows
Sep 2021
Been for two sell out shows recently at the concert hall and really great to see live shows again. The theatre has several levels so there is quite a bit of space still for everybody. Be aware that there are a lot of stairs if you are on the top levels although there are lifts. Bars on three levels and ice cream on others. Comfy seats with reasonable leg room.

Outstanding service
Aug 2021 • Couples
I visited the theatre for the first time this week and was disappointed to find that the majority of people (mostly young) were not wearing masks. I realise that this is not mandatory now but sitting in close proximity to everyone is quite a scary thing after months of avoiding this situation. I contacted the theatre the following day to raise my concerns and had an immediate response from the House Manager Mark Graham who explained what the theatre was doing to comply with the safety procedures. Because I had left at the interval he offered me a more isolated seat in the theatre to see the show again. This was above and beyond just an apology and I cannot praise the kindness and attention to customer care that he followed up. It is sad that I needed to voice my thoughts over my own insecurities but I am hoping that more people decide to wear face coverings for performances so that everyone can enjoy a good night out again without worrying.

Beautiful building
Aug 2021 • Friends
Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall is a beautiful theatre building that is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful buildings in Nottingham.
A landmark building on Theatre Square constructed in 1865 and opened on the 25 September of that year, the architect Charles J Phipps created a magnificent building, the facade and especially the 6 Corinthian columns are truly beautiful, I just love the look of this theatre building, it adds to the joy of walking around this part of town, its easy to locate on Theatre Square, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.
