About
Family friendly farm park with lots of animals and a play park. We hold daily animal handling activities and during school holidays have lots of special activities put on to entertain the children. On the site there is also a Café, gift shop and garden centre on site along with some small craft cabins. Overall there is something for everyone for a good day out.

Visited Floralands today with my two grandsons. Got to say, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe I was expecting too much, having visited the excellent Matlock Farm park last week. The range of animals was very limited, most of the small animals looked as though they were half dead or the pens and cages looked really badly made or they were “ on holiday “ which meant absent. I suppose that £5 to get in, you get what you pay for, however £5 for a three year old ?. However, the biggest shock was yet to come, decided to eat at the on-site cafe, Dumbledores. Oh my god it’s terrible. Ordered three meals, one quiche salad and new potatoes, requesting the quiche and potatoes to be hot, one bacon and cheese panini, and asked for half a jacket potato, beans and a couple of sausages for the 3 yr old. Not possible to have half a potato or buy the sausages on their own, was expected to buy full potato and beans, £7.50 and sausage and chips, £4.35. No compromise. Decided on sausage chips and beans instead of the £12 and awaited the meals. Well the salad?? turned up. Cold quiche slice, a pile of lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and a slice of cucumber for the salad and no potatoes, this was accompanied by a cold panini and the sausages with beans and accompanied by the most insipid looking chips I’ve ever seen. Complained about the potatoes and they came out, cold with no apology The Panini returned and had quite clearly been warmed up, the chips remained The chips were tasted and left as they were hard and undercooked, the cold quiche was average and lacking in taste and the panini was still Luke warm in the middle Despite our original complaints not one member of staff enquired if things were better or even came near our table, so we left as a very unsatisfied customer For what I would consider the worst cafe food I’ve had in a decade we were charged £27. I would say the whole experience is one that there is no chance of being repeated and would advise people to steer clear and drive to Matlock or east leake or white post farm, anywhere but Floralands.

    Disappointed
My son is 2 and thoroughly enjoyed wandering around and seeing all of the animals. I am glad I brought wellies as it was very muddy but that’s to be expected at a farm park! It’s nicely spread out and there are range of animals to see. He really loved looking at the rabbits. He also liked the play area and all the little tikes cars. I have to agree with some of the reviews for the cafe which we visited after the farm park. I felt that they were not very welcoming or friendly towards us because we had a child. I also greatly dislike having an area ‘only for adults and no children allowed’. It would seem they don’t want custom from young families. I wouldn’t visit again and will go further afield to White Post Farm where you get so much more for your money!

    Impressed!
Really impressed- what a difference, I stopped going to Floralands cafe as the tables were always full of pots and the service and food were mediocre to say the least. I went yesterday with my mum and thought we would give it another go, to say it was busy I was served quickly by a lovely friendly lady, my order arrived within 10 minutes, the food was excellent and a good potion size. The tables were clean and the staff were really helpful and polite. We will definitely be going back.

after reading some reviews we were looking forward to this visit but it was not up to scratch. the farm park was ok not many animals to be honest mostly sheep and goats. one of the llamas had an open wound on it's back covered in flies and didn't look good. the large play area had new large equipment but everything else was falling apart dangerous dirty and worn out. the sandpit about 30 foot square was taken over by weeds and broken fencing and broken toys. the pedal cart playground all the toys were ancient and mainly broken didn't pedal. general appearance was grubby dirty unkempt you struggled to find a picnic table that wasn't covered in bird poo and in danger of falling apart. I think you could spend hundreds of thousands of pounds and just fill the cracks. I'm sure health and safety and risk assessments have been ignored. the cafe restaurant was large great outdoor area but food and tables not cleaned were attracting flies and wasps and I spent the entire time standing over our 3 year old waving a jumper to stop so many wasps going for her ice cream and juice..think before you go and I know there are better places for your kids to enjoy. sorry for this negative review but you have to tell it how it is 🤔

Im sorry to say this as was really looking forward to going but its was £15.00 and it took all of half an hour and 10 mins of that wss on the play area. We tried to use two of the hand sanitisers which were bone dry and the sink near the park had an intermittent soap dispenser and nothing to dry your hands on the roll was empty. We asked the lady in the cafe which was the exit as it was one way and she just grunted and pointed at the way we came in which said no exit. 🤔 So we left through the no exit. The play area had the same tractor toys on it that my husband played on when he came as a kid as he used to live almost down the road. Hes now 36 and thats how old they looked. The play park definitely could do with a tidy and a lick of paint. We love animals and im happy to pay whatever if it is beneficial to them. Just needs a bit of tlc.

Embarassingly poor service. Called in for late afternoon coffee and snack to be greete by four ignorant staff, behind counter, who did not even acknowledge our presence. Eventually, after asking very loudly "IS ANYONE SERVING" an unsmiling lurch look-alike condescended to take an order, but not for a toastie or other food item. Spoke to manageress who feigned horror and indication on the manner of our treatment.
Will never be back!

HI, I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience when visiting our site and can only apologise for the behaviour and conduct of the café staff. Just to make you aware the café, although on the same site as the farm, is not run by the farm park itself and actually has separate management/owners. I will ensure that I pass your comments on to them so that they can address this feedback with their staff. Kind regard Jackie (owner floralands farm park)

I normally enjoy visiting this place but on this occasion we were particularly looking forward to it as the lamb bottle feeding was taking place for £1. We went on a rainy day and we were looking forward to doing an indoor activity. We were told rather rudely by the person in the shop that we had to pay for admission on top of this price. Why would we want to walk round a farm in the rain? Also we then went to the cafe to have a drink which was packed with people only to see a sign saying “quiet zone no children or dogs” on it. The cafe was not quiet, it was crowded and I’m not sure why a sign of this nature is permitted when you couldn’t erect a sign effectively discriminating against any other group of people.

Animal experience I’d rather forget. Paid to visit the animal enclosure, full price even though it shut within 20 mins. I visited the sulcatas as I’ve never held them before. The keeper instead of lifting and moving the tortoise just dragged it across the floor scraping the tarsals (that’s feet). He did this 3 times and I was quite surprised with him being a ‘keeper’ so my visit there was very disappointing. I wouldn’t return as obviously they don’t know how to handle reptiles

This was our first visit and it was such a disappointment. The farm park is rundown and grubby. The animals enclosures are small and uninspiring. The footpaths around are so muddy and unkempt it was really hard work pushing the pram round.
The play area is tired with tape and cones all over it over damaged equipment.
The picnic area was horrendous. Wobbly tired benches. Absolutely covered in bird poo, so dirty, could not sit there to eat.
It’s such a shame because it could be a great day out but it is tired, dirty and needs some love and attention. There is no information about the animals as you go round the enclosures.
I won’t be back again unless some work is done to rectify its many issues. Which is a shame ebcause we are local and would love to support a local business.

The cafe however was really nice with great food on offer and brilliant service. Such a shame it doesn’t marry up with the farm park.
The only downside to the restaurant today was that there was a member of staff sat on the table near us talking about how unwell they feel. Particuarly in covid time this was a little unnerving. Especially when they are working with food and food prep.

I took my kids (3 and 6) here today because they wanted to pet some small animals. Paid £15 for the three of us to get in. We had an explore, saw some chickens and goats. Everything else was hiding because it was a very cold day. The play ground was good but that was the peak of the day, and there are plenty of better playgrounds we could have accessed for free. Everything else was dilapidated and tired. There was no signage anywhere about times for animal cuddles - we looked! Plenty of signage about Xmas, despite it being mid January. We asked a pair of staff about the animals and were told it was at 2pm, so we went and had lunch, which was tasty but expensive given the portion sizes - both kids were still hungry after their £5 meals. Cafe staff were nice.
We went back to the petting area shortly before two. Waited for half an hour before both kids were in tears (very cold day), when I gave up. There were no staff to be seen. I complained on the way out and the lady could not have cared less, hence this review. She said it was actually at 2.30, but given that there were a) no signs to tell anyone that and b) two staff gave me a different time, this was very aggravating. She also told me I needed to get a token from her, which was also new information and a bit bloody late! Why can’t they just mention that as you enter? Or put up a sodding sign?!!
We left. Kids were hangry and disappointed, given that we didn’t get to do what we went for. I spent £40 on entry and food for three people. We won’t be going back.

We booked the VIP experience as it was in the area we were visiting. A great little day for the kids (although very cold) and a birthday treat for my youngest son. They loved handling the five animals which were all interesting and the staff were very knowledgeable about. Like a lot of places of this nature the last few years have been difficult and it could do with some polishing, however all the animals seemed happy and everyone was taking great care of them. It was a nice way to spend a few hours and I would recommend the VIP experience for those interested in handling the animals. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

A really disappointing trip. 😞

The whole place is incredibley delapidated and shabby. The toilets were revolting, baby changing stations were filthy. Not worth the £20 entry price for 2 adults and two under 5s.

Cafe was nice however very very overpriced.

However, the worst part of the whole trip were the staff. The lady who served us in the shop was nice but as we were walking around looking at the animals we were micro managed by two miserable female staff who were marching around with a face like thunder constantly telling me children off for the most ridiculous reasons.
A woman was very harsh towards my 4 year old son for standing too close to a free roam hen that was following him round. My daughter was criticised for clapping her hands too loud in excitement (she autistic) and spoken to like a piece of 💩

Finally my son was asked by me to wipe his feet on the only patch of grass available on a muddy day so he wouldn't bring his muddy shoes into the cafe. A staff member stomped over telling him to move as he wasn't supposed to be that close to the fence. There was a tiny piece of tape cordoning it off which I appreciate but I was fully supervising him and there were zero hazards where he was stood. He was again spoke to so harshly and I just explained he was cleaning his shoes and I would keep a eye on him and make sure he wasn't at risk. The staff member rolled her eyes and walked off muttering passive aggressive comments.
I consider myself a really conscientious person and my children are generally very respectful.

This ruined the whole day for me and made me feel very uncomfortable which is a shame as I really like yo support local businesses in our area

Tired and run down.
The farm needs a lot of care and attention.
Animal homes are falling down.
Play parks not brilliant with lots that need mending.

Picnic benches are a hazard as they are so rotten and covered in bird poo.

Cafe was nice although sandwich for a child was stale and the scone could have broken a window it was so hard.
