We attended the race meeting on 15th July 2023 and were disappointed to find that the normal quiet, friendly atmosphere of Colwick Park had been replaced with a student disco or so it seemed.
From entering, just after gates opened, we were subjected to a booming bass of a disco next to the main stand.
As the day progressed, we were unable to get to bars, food outlets and toilets due to the numbers of students in attendance.
At one point, an upstairs bar was opened to allow non students to have a more conducive atmosphere for racing and a quiet drink. However, this was soon found by students who used the bar as well. They were easily identified through their coloured wristbands.
As the afternoon went on, toilets were blocked and closed. Those remaining open were akin to a nightclub, with drunken behaviour and the facilities left in a disgusting, dirty manner.
We have nothing against the course welcoming students and accommodating them accordingly - in fact we welcome the horse racing industry maximising it's income as and when it can.
What we don't agree with is no notification of this student event when we purchased tickets on 18th April 2023, but only found out when checking the updates the day before travelling.
We don't agree with regular racegoers feeling out of place and unable to use basic facilities such as toilets.
I am not personally convinced that facilities at the course were HSE compliant due to the numbers in attendance and the available favlcilities.
We travelled from Stockport for the meeting as we have previously supported the course because of prior excellent experiences.
We spoke to other regular racing patrons and they were in the same position of not being made aware of the 'student day' and their reticence to returning.
We approached the racecourse after the meeting for their input but received a dismissive email from the General Manager.
As such, I would suggest anyone booking tickets ensure that no other event has been booked in which may destroy your day.

I have visited many racecourses around the country and this was by far my worst experience. We went on a Saturday evening and the overall customer service was very poor. We had to queue for twenty minutes at every bar whenever we wanted to buy a drink. When we were served we had to pay ÂŁ8 for a red wine, which came out of a can and was served in a plastic glass. There was only one toilet and the queue all evening for both men and ladies was very long. We left after four races and will not be returning.

Only two bars on a busy day induce long queues, having little to no seating indoors leads to overcrowding, and having no real food outlets is just very odd. Is this surprising to them? The seating around the actual course is quite uncomfortable and the establishment generally just seems to attract the wrong type of crowd. It's very difficult to get your bets in as not many attendants were there and it was extremely crowded. Additionally, the service was not great. Importantly, the bars had a small range of options and what they did sell was overpriced. That said, the area looks nice enough.

Went to Disney in the dark fireworks
Overcrowded, not organised went last year which was a better experience
This year took 1 hour to get parked, the 30 minute queue to get in with queues at all stalls ÂŁ3 for a can of Fanta food ÂŁ10 for pulled pork cobs which was small, music was not really Disney and couldn't really hear it, really disappointed

From an owners point of the view the place is terrible.
The owners experience is one of the worst I've encountered and I've been twice in the last month.
Food on both occasions was very poor and the attitude of the girl serving was no better. Very limited options and you either have hot or cold. The girl serving said we could not have salad with my hot food I had to have veg.
First time the chicken was like rubber and totally overcooked with the potatoes being rock hard and undercooked. On my second visit the bacon chop was dry and totally overcooked although they have leant how to cook potatoes now.
On the second visit my horse won, Nottingham give terrible prize money and don't give out a trophy or bottle of champagne to the winner but think it's acceptable to give you a cheesecake as a prize.

It was a wet Wednesday and so all the seating outside could not be used. 500 people trying to find a seat. 10 tables and maybe 40 chairs in the whole place.
If you want a premier experience you can’t have one as the premier bar is now owners and trainers only.
So we had to stand up for three hours drinking out of the flimsiest plastic glasses I have seen.
Don’t get me started on the food offering !!!!!
Nottingham race track used to be lovely but if it wants to attract future racegoers it really needs to rethink its ideas.

The racecourse and racing where great but our group actually left with two races still to go the bar service was the worst I have ever come across at any venue and at the age of 49 I have seen a few!,most of the staff could not speak English and I felt sorry for the girl that could because she got the brunt of all the complaints because the others played ignorant.it was taking 40 minutes to get a beer which was served warm and flat people where outraged and I'm suprised there wasn't trouble because of the attitude of a manager that appeared he was a tall bald chap in his fifties who just laughed and shrugged his shoulders at complaints and quite frankly wants sacking we will never return it's a shame because we like to back our local institutions so it's Southwell in future ,absolutely disgusting bar service and management,the amount of people that left as we did was unreal Nottingham racecourse tried to put on an eighties night with disco after racing lots of people turned up but left early you definitely know how to put people off racing

We attended as a a hen group, it was ladies day and we all made a real effort to dress up. At ÂŁ32.00 a ticket it was quite expensive. Firstly the weather was awful but you can't do anything about that. So what did you get for your money?, not an awful lot. The worst chicken salad I have ever seen, it was served in a plastic transport cafe bowl, not really fit for human consumption, the vegi option was a green salad, disgusting, I don't know how they could of got away with serving such a disgrace. We then got a very small plastic flute full of bubbly. One gulp and it was gone. We then struggled to get into the enclosure. It was throwing it down with rain so what did they do but prevent people from going in. They ran out of drinks. All in all it was a sham!. It really has put me off ever returning. A day at the dogs is much better.

We went for the Tuesday afternoon racing. We were staying in Nottingham centre so took a short taxi ride to the racecourse, recommend you book for your return journey or wait wait 3/4 of an hour like we had to. The racecourse was stunning, something for everyone food and drink wise, great to see lots of children. A great race card, lovely afternoons racing assisted by the good weather, we enjoyed it so much we are coming again.

Had a good day out to Nottingham racecourse. It is a fairly small set up but a well maintained course. However we waited 45 minutes to be served with our first drink and a good half an hour for each other drink. The bar staff are extremely slow and this needs addressing. We missed one of the races because of this. There were plenty of food outlets but it lacked in bar facilities. This really needs to be sorted out.
All staff were so helpful and friendly especially on the entrance with the scanner operators.
I would come back here in future but the queues at the bar needs to be looked into.
