Although the concept of using former church buildings as bars is nothing new ,in fact I've been to plenty of former church buildings converted to bars such as The West Kirk Pub in Ayr, The Church in Chester and in my home town of Liverpool we have Alma De Cuba, all fab looking bars but in my opinion this Pitcher & Piano in Nottingham is my personal favourite.
Housed in the former High Pavement Chapel, the interior is superb, opulent decor and furnishings, an eye catching serving bar, many original features retained, great lighting highlighting features such as the beautiful windows and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling High Pavement.
My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Tuesday evening, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered beers, these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar.
My beer was really good, a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, on a hot evening a totally refreshing brew indeed, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a quality pint of beer and by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their bar.
We really enjoyed our beers in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
This Pitcher & Piano is easy to locate along High Pavement.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, Open from 11am.
Friday to Sunday, Open from 10am.
A wonderful bar, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

I stopped in here twice during my three nights stay in Nottingham. First, dinner at a reserved table towards the end - I had sausage and mash, London lager and Sticky Toffee Pudding (YUM!!). All good and service was prompt and very accomodating. Second time was mid-day and just for a drink at the high top. Just like the way the place is set. (Church building) I'd be here often if I lived there.

From the original booking, online meals pre-order and the confirmation emails with the great service by the staff, Pitcher & Piano offers a real treat of a meal in a marvellous venue, well worth a pint or two and just a real treat.

Our lunch yesterday for pretty poor to be honest.
The restaurant wasn’t full at all yet the service was extremely slow from start to the finish.
Our menus was given out late when we arrived.
Our drink arrived 20 minutes late, and nobody checked if we needed another top of drinks.

Used to frequent pitcher and piano regularly a couple of years back and revisited with friends this weekend. We all got ‘searched’ before entering - not a check of ID (albeit we are all in our 30’s) but the bouncer checked every pocket and rifles through purses/wallets and frisked before we could enter, they explained the bar had a lot of issues with drugs. Felt really rough inside and we didn’t feel safe so left without having a drink. Such a shame used to be lovely but clearly now attracts a different audience.

Pitcher & piano always busy and if you don't book a table you might struggle to get one for lunch, we tried today and were fortunate to get seating outside, good menu choices in a very nice place to dine and drink

Visited on a sunny Saturday and wanted somewhere we could sit outside. There’s a lovely seating area to the side of the pub that is just visible from the road.

I had the club sandwich which was nice. My husband opted for the steak baguette, which was tasty but chewy.

The service needs some improvement though. Our food arrived quickly but before our drinks. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins and we weren’t given any condiments, or asked if we wanted any sauces.

It was pretty busy though and to be fair our servers were apologetic and went to get the missing drinks/cutlery straight away.

We travelled from London to surprise our son (who is at Uni there) for his 21st Birthday. We had found the Pitcher and Piano on the internet and the setting intrigued us, the reviews were good so we booked a table for an afternoon surprise meal. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The building did not disappoint and we were invited to walk around the closed upstairs area having been shown to our reserved table, whilst waiting for our son and his girlfriend. The conversion from church to restaurant/bar has been done in a respectful fashion, maintaining much of the original building makes for quite a special visit as you have no doubt you are in the splendour of what once was a vast religious structure with all its magnificence.
Before the arrival of our son, (having seen a personalised blackboard upstairs with balloons for a previous 21st celebration), the manager brought us another blackboard set upon an easel with a box of large assorted coloured chalks, this allowed us to write our own congratulatory personal message, which was a lovely touch for our reserved area and made the visit more the special.
The food was lovely, well presented pub food. The drinks were of good selection both draught and bottled. The Pitcher and Piano was a great find and It is certainly worth a visit if only for a drink.

Pre booked too eat here with my wife and mother using our gourmet society card. When we arrived we were being shown too our seats when the manager came over too us and asked us too leave as two of the party were wearing football shirts. In no place is a dress code highlighted both outside or on the website where I pre booked. The place was empty and you wonder why an empty place would turn away customers! Have since complained too the establishment yet not received a reply. Poor service all around and will not return too this chain! Even worse that the football shirt was for the home town team! Have also contacted the club too let it know what establishments value our local teams!
