I regularly take young overseas students to visit local tourist attractions. This never fails! The helpers always give the appearance that they enjoy their role in scaring people in a family fun - would recommend age 8 - 99. Well done.

A well put together audio tour. Certainly showed and outlined the conditions that prisoners would have experienced in the early years.

Excellent place to go if you want an afternoon learning the history of the Justice system. Thoroughly interesting made all the more entertaining by the various staff in old fashioned dress acting as characters from the old justice system. I imagine it would be great for kids. There is so much information and history available in here you could spend... More

A guided tour takes you into the court room for some role play then down to the prison. It was a real eye opener of how people were charged with the smallest of crimes and the terrible conditions they lived in.

This place dates back to before 1450 and the Hall was still being used as a Court in 1991 when the Crown Court was opened in Canal Street. The history and the whole place is pretty horrific but it is also amazing to see what went on hundreds of years ago. The 'real human' guides are great, in costume and... More

Went into the city to see the Castle + old pubs. Someone in a bar told us not to miss the Galleries otherwise we wouldn't have known about it - GET ADVERTISING PEOPLE. This is a great 1/2 day for 5 to 95 year-olds. Part story telling, part interactive display, part museum, part murder mystery totally interesting. Down side? VERY... More

I was really surprised this is a very good attraction, we combined this with the caves in broadmarsh, and had a whole day doing tourist stuff. The attraction itself was well laid out and informative, but not overloaded. We had little children, a pre teen and an older teen and all enjoyed the day. Within the galleries, we had talks... More

Historic courthouse and gaol brought to life by imaginative actors and use of location. Very informative and great value particularly when combined with the cave tour

Went on the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great for the children. It's a bit low budget and amateurish really for adults, but the children loved it and learned from it and that's what counts. Would recommend it to all families.

It was excellent! The tour was really good. The sheriff met us in the hall. He explained tge history of tge building and was really witty. We were then showed aroynd by another two ladies, The jailor and matron were just fab too. They have obviously been to drama school and would be great on stage. For anyone looking for... More
