the actual activity of whitewater rafting was superb with great guidance given by our team leader Ross- he constantly made sure the 2 hours in the raft were a fantastic experience & is a credit to the organisation
However, the visitor experience was/is spoiled by poor signage.
A lack of actual signs on the complex as you drive through letting you know where the whitewater takes place with several people incorrectly parking in the first car park (which is actually for a childrens activity area).
This is compounded by the fact that once you do find the right place there is no sign for reception/shop/changing rooms/toilets- basic things which could be easily & quickly put right.
Also bear in mind that you do need to pay £5 to park once you do find the correct car park .... there is a single sign in the perimeter telling you this

I was part of a group of 17 that went rafting at the national water sports centre this weekend.

We all had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would definitely do the experience again soon.

The parking was also good even though it was busy, we easily found a space.

The facilities are basic, there are ladies and mens toilets, changing rooms, mirrors, lockers, and communal showers. If you have 20p you can also use the hairdryers. There's a cafe there also.

The instructor on my boat was called Beth, she was lovely to talk to and professional, you could also tell she genuinely loved being on the watercourse and her job.

My wife bought me a white water rafting experience as a voucher for my birthday prior to Covid. When I came to book this, Danny, the manager was very supportive in identifying a time and date when I could use this.

On the day, Danny and Ben greeted us and were really clear as to what we needed to do. It was clear that the team had put alot of measures in place to help cope with the pandemic and we felt very safe.

Due to Covid restrictions my son and I were in a boat on our own. Ben, our guide was absolutely fantastic. Full of enthusiasm and knowledge, he made sure we had a truly brilliant and memorable experience.

After the event, Danny shared some videos he'd taken of us on our runs. They were fantastic and a lovely lasting reminder.

All in all, we couldn't have been in better hands. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone, as long as they don't mind getting wet!

Came for a winter’s day walk with my husband and 5 year old, arrived at 1.30pm to signs saying that the gates are closing at 2.30pm. Strange but enough time for my daughter to go on the park and to have a walk. However we found like other reviewers that we had to pay £5 for this short time, and mess around down loading an app as well, no phone number to call. Why can’t they just have machines that you can use card or cash?? Anyway after the faffing around paying for the ridiculously expensive parking we went to the play area. It was literally two swings and a toddler climbing frame with slide. NEC need to up their game, other country parks have much better kids play areas and cheaper parking. We won’t be coming here again. Shame as there are lovely walks here.

Just to be clear, this is a great facility for Nottingham with lots to do and in a lovely setting.

The one star score is due to the council deciding to impose a flat rate £5 parking fee.

We took my elderly parents for a walk there.
2 cars due to social distance bubbles.
2 cars = £10 for a half hour stroll beside the lake !
Surely there should be a scale of charges ? Not everyone is there for the whole day!

It used to be £1 which was fine and meant that you could pop along for a half hour run or similar.
Won’t be returning - greedy, short sighted council depriving casual users of access to the outdoors.

Either cycling, walking or running the Water Sports Centre is a great place for exercise especially in winter when everywhere is muddy. The tarmac path all around the 2km lake makes it just the job if you don’t want to get clarted up in mud. Also it’s good to walk past the white water slalom course adjacent to the rowing course especially if there’s an event on.

I have to give the high ropes a low star review, despite the course itself being fine, good price and the children definitely enjoyed it.

This is because one child was clearly struggling with the height and the staff didn't offer any help. This isn't so much the staff's fault, as they were clearly too busy. At Go Ape the staff would have gone up there and offered some help, but this course only had 2 members of staff to check in, harness and supervise a large number of children.

If it's a cheap bed for the night you want then this is okay. If you think you're booking an hotel then think again. Functional, utilitarian, small room. Can't drink the water (though bottled provided). Shower door loose and gungey, shower wall fitment loose, corridor door handle loose, lift out of order. Room cold and heating inadequate. Minute television with very sticky remote. Single glazed with condensation running down windows. Staff very pleasant and breakfast surprisingly good but taken in boarding school surroundings. Somewhere cheap for an overnight whilst using excellent sporting facilities? Fine. Anything else? Don't even think about it!

Agreed to meet a friend here for a walk on a Sunday afternoon in September. Surprised to see the large car park virtually empty. Then spotted that parking is £5 per car, regardless of how long, at weekends. And it has to be paid by card using a downloadable phone app. We only wanted a walk for a couple of hours. So we left, drove to nearby Lady Bay, parked up (with full consideration for locals) and walked back along the path beside the glorious River Trent.

Apart from watching the people doing whitewater kayaking, there was not much to look at so very glad we saved our £10.

Booked online for the Sky Trail which was excellent. Staff were really friendly and efficient however you have to pay £5 to park weather your there for an hour or all day !!! Makes an hour activity very expensive. We won’t be returning. I understand now when we passed loads of cars parked up on the side of the road.
