The building itself is a beauty, situated in the lace market, the surfaces of the building have a beautiful lace design imprinted. The Contemporary offers free admittance to travelling contemporary art shows as well as a great evening music scene with a cafe situated in the basement. We love the contemporary and visit regularly especially during school holidays. My boys enjoy looking around the displays which are frequently changed and quite often interactive. The best part for families are the activities in the basement. We have often spent an hour there doing crafts or other arty tasks. Lovely and helpful staff!

We're so lucky to have this super facility in Nottingham. Love or hate the exterior container ship design, art is here for everyone to enjoy.

Although this art gallery is not particularly my thing, it normally has very interesting exhibitions and events on - I went once to look at the art and accidentally came across a music festival where a band I know of were playing when I got there! The gift shop is also lovely.

The Contemporary is a greal place for all the family. We took our Grandchildren one saturday morning to do 'arty things'. classes are well run with lots of resources on hand to use, all FREE of charge ! ! There are on going exhibitions, a shop and a cafe. It's well worth a visit !

Were meeting in the Cafe Bar for an afternoon tea with a club I am a member of. Took my daughter with me at the last minute. Had a wonderful browse through the shop and the exhibit before mooching downstairs for a lovely afternoon tea. One of our favourite places in Nottingham!

We've visited this gallery on and off for the last few years. The exhibitions change regularly, so there's always something new to inspire and what's best is that it's free to enter. You can donate an entrance fee if you wish. There's also a quirky shop and a lovely cafe bar for a well earned rest. Highly recommended time out... More

Variable mixture of collections with helpful and knowledgeable staff whenever you (or your child) have a question, and the answer pitched according to who asked. Given that it's donation not fee based and so close to the caves and Castle it is well worth a visit.
