A magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle. The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history.

I have been longing to see the castle since I got acquainted with Robin Hood's Adventures. It was such a shame not seeing the interiors as it was before but the facade and the gardens made the trip as exciting as it is. Standing in the balcony and overseeing everything in Nottingham took me back in time how it may... More

Went to the castle today with my 15yr old son. We saw the Leonardo Exhibition which very well presented. The castle was great as I haven't been for years, we paid £5 extra each for the Mortimers Hole Cave tour. Callum, the guide was really excellent with lots of info about the castles history, glad we didn't miss this, it's... More

Visited on the bank holiday weekend and had a great time. It's a track to the top but the grounds are very well kept and very colourful. The exhibitions inside were good and even kept our 3 year old entertained. So good coffee shop with nice views across Nottingham

I took two of my grandchildren to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at Nottingham Castle a couple of weeks ago. It was a wonderful visit. The boys really enjoyed the Story of Nottingham rooms - much to my surprise as I didn't think it would appeal to teenage boys. I wanted them to see the da Vinci drawings which... More

Nottingham Castle is situated just a short walk from the Old Market Square. It isn't a castle as very little of the original structure remains. At the Castle Gate House the medieval bridge and lower towers remain and there is a Victorian restoration of the upper towers and gate house. Admission was £7. The gardens are well maintained and well... More

Castle... More like a museum. Caves at additional cost... Overpriced. Buy Robin Hood on DVD. Far better value, more interesting and lasts longer.

It's a little bit of a walk up to the heights of the Castle entrance but there is quite a bit to occupy the mind once there. There is a good cafe and super views across the city landscape. Tickets are valid for a year so really good value.

Didn't know what to expect really but after paying a nominal entrance fee at the gate we had a very interesting few hours, topped off by a guided tour of the caves and a history of the castle and grounds by the lovely, knowledgable Maid Marian. Robin Hood even made an appearance. What more could you want!!

The cave tour is a must at only £5 extra per person. The guide we got was absolutely fantastic, so interesting and funny too. Our 13 year old daughter even said she enjoyed it. We loved the da vinci exhibition too.
