Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian's Wall Small Group Day Tour from Edinburgh

411 reviews
Take the stress out of planning your own way to Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian’s Wall on a guided tour that includes round-trip transport from Edinburgh. Letting someone else drive between the dispersed landmarks allows you to focus on the scenery rather than the road. Plus, exploring the attractions with a guide means you are party to historical commentary that brings the landmarks to life.

We visited Falconry Days whilst staying nearby at Slaley. Considering we have been coming to this part of the world for over 20 years, we hadn’t heard of the centre. It is well signposted from the main road and a long single track drive up to the centre and the views across the forest are spectacular. Megan was our host and was very friendly and really knowledgable. You could tell she loved what she did and it is very clear that the staff are absolutely set on doing all they can for the birds there. Megan showed us around some of the birds and told us about the centre and it’s aims. We then got to look around some more on our own before getting to fly Plop, Charlie and Ash. We would definitely come back and maybe do the falcon experience next time as we enjoyed the owl session so much. Our 9 year old had a brilliant time and all of us learned loads. We also enjoyed hanging our with the two resident dogs Bruce and Blossom

This isn’t the easiest place to find, the post code applies to the area and delivered us to the first farm on the road, however, we were directed on to the next one and were soon pulling into the car park. I’d booked the Owl Encounter for myself and my husband and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel at home. Megan was our guide for the day, and she led us off to the aviaries to view the birds, kestrels, buzzards, Harris Hawks, Snowy Owls, Eagle Owls , Tawny and Barn Owls and too many others to mention. It quickly became apparent just how highly regarded the birds are, everything is done to maximise their welfare. There are several birds there that have been rescued and it’s obvious that the birds are their priority. Megan gave us all sorts of information about the birds and then led us out to the flying field. We flew 3 Owls, Plop, Charlie and Ash. It was incredible to be up close and personal with these wonderful creatures . A fantastic day and thank you, Megan.

A fantastic experience with knowledgeable and passionate guides. They really looked after us and we never felt rushed. Watching and then holding first the European Eagle Owl and then a Common Buzzard as it flew to your gloved hand is almost magical. Do an experience, you won't regret it.
