Not good....
Sep 2020 • Couples
Impressed on arrival with covid measures, sanitising, great one way system on the whole but as the evening went on people ignored the one way, many had removed masks wandering round, most frustrating was the incredibly tall manager who was constantly without his mask. Really can't understand why management cannot challenge people when they say masks are mandatory?

Frustrating
Jul 2019
A group of us went to the Wednesday quiz night, if you go upstairs and scan your membership card it says 30% off food and 10% off alcohol I ordered a drink at the bar got 10% off we had our 3 course meal expected the discount we were told it didn’t apply to the quiz meal only bar snacks it doesn’t tell you this I ordered another glass of wine at the table was expecting 10% off was told the discount only applied if I went to the bar to order the drink it doesn’t tell you any of this when you scan your card it’s very deceptive, complained to the manager who said we should have the discount but then changed his mind, as he said the meal wasn’t expensive which was true at £12.50 but there are bar snacks that cost less.
In spite off all that we had an enjoyable night.

Must say thank you to kasia who sorted my meal out as I had part of 2 different meals and Andreas who ensured we all had drinks when needed. Both members of the bar area who were very friendly and dong their job well. Wesley and other staff members all very friendly as well. I think a new manager who works along side Pauline appears to hide from casino players. Have never seen him talk, smile or even acknowledge anyone. Maybe he should appear to be abit more friendly
Enjoy going to the casino and on the whole most staff are friendly Sue from Bicester OXFORDSHIRE

What Happened?
Jul 2019 • Friends
Have been a regular customer of this casino for many, many years. Changed hands about three times now and got worse over the years. Since Paul, Donna, Piotr (Peter) left, the casino has gone down to rock bottom. When once we had an amazing alacarte menu to choose from all we get now is frozen aunt Bessie potatoes, no more rolls, just one slice of mini bread. (Extra money if you want more), limited choices and waffles & more waffles.Gone are the beautiful cotton serviettes instead now paperthin tissues. No gravy for the dry chicken? Was offered ketchup!!! Cost cutting to the extreme. What a shame. I spent many a good quiz night at this casino but it is a skeleton of what it used to be. The place used to be heaving with people. Tribute nights, murder mystery nights, piano player, etc. Loads of happy smiling staff now reduced to two if lucky. We as a group would rather pay £15-£16 per head and get some of the good food and variation back. Can see the restaurant closing down soon at this rate. People will stop going. It used to be one of my favourite eating places, not anymore. I have been such a loyal customer over 16 years+. Such a pity it has changed so much over the past year.

From a First Class Sellout to Cheap & Tacky!
Jul 2019 • Friends
The restaurant at this casino used to be fine dining with delicious, plentiful freshly cooked food served by polite, friendly staff who were on first name terms with most of their customers. It now serves cheap shop bought ingredients (frozen roast potatoes, shop bought desserts) by surly waiters who answer back to any minor critique.
Perhaps the reason the staff are so obnoxious is because there is often only 2 people serving food, drinks, selling raffle tickets & running a quiz.
At a recent quiz meal, the table was set with no side plates, no wine/water glasses, only 1 set of cutlery presumably to be used for starter, main course and dessert and cheap paper napkins and table runners now replace the nice linen napkins and tablecloths.
A polite request for extra bread and vegetables was met with "there'll be an extra charge..."!!! For a measly slice of bread...??? Another request for extra sauce or gravy for some quite dry meat was met with the offer of tomato ketchup instead... Tomato ketchup with dry meat & frozen roast potatoes... Gordon Ramsay would have a field day...!!!
Again probably due to 2 members of staff doing the jobs of about 5 people, the quiz meal was drawn out far too long with dessert not being served until 10pm. And as for the complementary tea & coffee that used to be freshly brewed with mint chocolates on the side, that was nowhere to be seen. Although based on previous experience, it probably wasn't worth waiting around for a pot of hot water & a packet of instant coffee!
The quiz nights in this restaurant used to be a fun night out with excellent food and service. The tables and car park were always full, the staff had fun with the patrons and the clientele was classy. You would recommend it to friends & would want to go back again & again. It's such shame how it's gone downhill so drastically...
Advice for the management would be - Employ more staff, preferably some with customer service skills. Vary the menu - waffles anyone? Use your trained chefs to cook fresh food not just re-heat frozen food. Increase the price slightly if necessary, people will pay a bit more for better quality food & service. Go back to strict members only entry with smart/casual dress code. Letting any Tom, Dick or Harry in wearing their scruffs has certainly helped to lower the tone of the place!
I imagine this advice will be ignored and wouldn't be surprised if the quiz nights that were once a popular sellout hit years ago will no longer run. What a missed opportunity just to make a few changes that would be! This is no longer the only casino restaurant in Northampton with fierce competition just down the road. Customer loyalty clearly isn't appreciated at Grosvenor and of course can be easily lost...

Sad demise of a great restaurant
Jun 2019 • Friends
The Grosvenor Casino (once known as the Rubicon) has transformed from what was once the premier eating place in town to a sort of upmarket Hungry Horse. Had our table of 5 not been eating there last night apart from a table of two it would have been empty. The hard pressed waiter began our evening by reeling off a list of the items that were on the menu but unavailable (never a good start). This restaurant used to buzz when it was rammed with diners - but now its a sad empty chamber of what used to be. A once guilded menu has now been replaced by a flimsy stained bit of cardboard favoured by mass market pubs - and the offerings are little better. This place used to ooze class - but now its given up the fight and decided to head as down market as it can get. Do the owners not realise that the town is crying out for a quality restaurant - and diners prepared to pay for a fantastic meal will more than likely venture upstairs afterwards - as they did years ago. My advice to the Grosvenor Casino - if you can't make dining a memorable experience then shut the restaurant down because it is doing nothing for it's reputation.

Dont eat just bet
Apr 2019 • Business
I went here with some work colleagues for dinner and I must say its not up to much. Badly cooked and presented food in a charmless side room off the casino with slow service and a very average menu. If you just want something quick to eat there are plenty of better alternatives close by but if you are actually going here as a destination for food you will be disappointed, You would get a better value cheap eats feed at the nearest wetherspoons. I suppose I shouldn't have expected much but still came away feeling ripped off by the poor quality of the food and cooking. The lady who served us was the only positive, she was attentive, friendly, and courteous.

Good Value Sunday Lunch
Mar 2019 • Friends
We ate here for the second time last Sunday and had a very good meal with friendly service.
The restaurant itself is really elegant and well laid out with all the tables dressed in white table cloths and the wine glasses all set. First impressions are excellent. There is a very good bar and large area to sit in before going through to the restaurant.
We always have the soup starters which i have to say are exceptional ! Always freshly made and served with warm crusty fresh bread. You can also have a traditional old fashioned style prawn cocktail starter which you don't see very often now.
For mains we had the roast sirloin of beef with all the trimmings and for desert i ordered Christmas pudding which was nice to have in March. You get a choice of approximately 4 dishes for each course.
The service is very friendly throughout in a very relaxed and stylish surroundings. The three courses not including drinks came to £14 each which we thought was great value.

Lovely evening
Feb 2019 • Friends
Visited the casino on Wednesday night with 3 friends. We all had a meal and took advantage of the offer of any dessert free with main meal purchase. The food we ordered (steak, beef burger and hunters chicken) was all delicious. The puddings we ordered (berry mousse, cheesecake and waffles) were also very good. The bar/restaurant staff and gaming staff were all very friendly. We had a good laugh with Alex and Colin on roulette and blackjack and was very impressed with the customer service.
