Wonderful park, came recently after not having been for many years used to visit almost weekly with my late grandmother and younger brother.
It’s as good as I remembered. New climbing frames etc, The museum/ Manor House has had a big update inside. Glad the bird cages are still there, especially the peacocks, sadly only 1 appears to be there now used to be 4 or 5.
The lakes were clean and tidy less fishermen than there used to be, we always stopped for a chat as kids on our walks around the lake.
The bowling green had moved and the fountain with the cymbals in the sensory garden had gone too sadly.
The kids enjoyed feeding the ducks bird seed, and squirrels in the mulberry tree near the museum a few nuts. Overall a really nice experience brought back many memories for me. I’d love to have the opportunity to work on ideas with this park it truly is the Towns shining light.

If giving any recommendations on improving I’d perhaps suggest the bandstand got used more regularly, perhaps a performance area for local bands during holidays, keep Sundays for brass bands of course. The museum needs to be open during all peak times not just weekends. And please put a water feature back in the sensory garden.

Oh yes ! and reduce the Café and Ice cream man’s rates it’s made them charge a bit higher than expected.

This is certainly the best park around Northampton.

Though I do not agree with the effective monopoly of the café and the owner of that establishment I also acknowledge the efforts of that owner to the upkeep of the park.

The place is very traditional with many well laid out paths, plenty of open grassland and some small woodland areas.

The play area gets very crowded but never too much so and there is a lot of seating for those less able to stand.

There is a bandstand which hosts music from time to time.

An ample boating lake.

An attractive avery

A very interesting museum which is free. (Check opening times)

There is plenty of parking though many choose to crowd the area near the children's equipment which does get busy

Every local I know loves this park and so do the visitors I have taken. Beautiful floral displays, duck pond and nice cafe. Also love the Avery with tropical birds and peacocks. Look out for Ghandi the peacock I named in a competition and Lord Sparkles the second. There are tennis courts and ping pong in summer. There is a great little museum open May to October most years.

Visit anytime, and season and it always manages to inspire and relax you. It’s open 24/7 not sure why it shows limited opening hours! Two parks divided by a road. Eastern side has three wonderful lakes with wildlife, boats have returned, ancient water tower / dovecote, ancient gate posts, rolling landscapes providing hundreds of picnic spots, ‘fairy trees’, music festivals, kids playground (former site of the town gallows!), bouncy castles, ice cream vans, football / cricket pitches, sunken garden and new picnic tables, daffodil beds, exercise machines. Nice Bold Dragoon pub in Weston favell village. Western side is smaller but has plenty more with an interesting church, Shakespeare’s niece Manor House is now a town museum, bird aviary, sports area (tennis, bowls, table tennis), bandstand for brass bands in summer, cafe (sadly overpriced), ‘tank hill’, sensory garden, loos, war memorial, historical tours (not booked at park), information boards on the ironwork. It really needs more historical information boards and permanent tour guides!Famous Abington Pub (Greene king) or try the County in Abington Avenue with its fine menu and drinks range adjacent to the cricket ground.
The park has more varieties of trees in Uk than anywhere except Kew Gardens!

Lovely park with gentle walks and a lovely tea cabin. The park is spread over two sites and there is an old manor house , which is a museum now. Lovely playground for kids and exercise machines all over for adults. Beautiful lakes with swans, ducks and other wildlife. A very relaxing place. BUT it does get busy, because all the locals know about it!!!

We count ourselves extremely lucky to have this beautiful park on our doorstep. The smaller east side houses the museum, cafe, church, rose garden, tennis courts and bandstand and has a much more cosmopolitan feel. The larger west side is perfect for dog walking, sports, running, fishing, and nice long strolls. The exercise equipment, fishing lake and children’s playground mean there’s something for everyone and the whole place is beautifully laid out.

What a park . It has a lake . It has a ice cream van . It has a toilet . It has a duck . It has a field . It has a playground . It has a band on a Sunday with banging tunes . What more could you ask for ? And before I forget a elderly bowling club!🚀IN NORTHMPTON . Don’t feed the ducks 🦆👍

Ordered a sandwich and a child meal £16.00. Ordered it at 11.30 come 12.40 still no meal. The cafe wasnt busy. After me asking the meal came out.... two fish fingers half of one missing. Broke the fish finger in half and was freezing cold. Came with 12 chips. Sandwhich looked lovely.
Wouldn't return very over priced. I asked for my money back and we went somewhere else.

Over many decades I and my family have loved this free area. Thankfully now well maintained and enjoyed by thousands of locals. Whether a walk, or games, maybe a drink or an ice cream. Whatever ones age . Perfect to relax and enjoy fresh air.

Abington Park is much more interesting than might at first be expected of a park; it isn't just a grassy area. It is divided by a road into two halfs. One half has a museaum and other attractions, the other side has lakes / ponds and a play area. As a place to visit and realax it is very pleasant. If you want more then the museum has it. There is quite a bit of history to the park. I used to go there a lot as a child, and still go for stro;;s there. It hasn't changed much in all those years.
