I visited riverside hub yesterday and had heard mixed reviews about how busy it still was even with massively reduced numbers. I booked for 3pm and was surprised too at how busy it still felt. I was pleased to then hear an announcement or 2 to ask people who had over stayed their 2.5hour slot to make their way to reception. I have never in the last 7 years heard that before so felt relieved that they were taking the number of people seriously. It was a much better experience once a lot of families left. Cleaning stations are every where you turn and staff are constantly cleaning toys and equipment. My son kept putting down his basket of food in the toddler village and in a flash it would be gone. The guy on cleaning duty was not taking any chances and would whip it away to be cleaned before another child took it or swapped it. He was then able to take a new clean basket (apologies to that poor guy) My son absolutely loves the hub and was pleased with the new features. We find some thing new every time we go. It’s the little details that make it unique, It’s not just soft play. The new reception area has made it easier for social distancing and looks beautiful. The new house in the toddler village is still in progress but looks exciting. My older children love being there just as much and it’s perfect for them all. Age 10,8 and 3. We will certainly be booking again. The price was slightly dearer this time as there is no larger family discount but I felt it was worth it. I felt safe and that my kids were safe.

Thank you for posting such a nice review of your visit, it is really nice to hear how you got on. As you discovered, with our new much-reduced capacity, we have to very closely monitor the number of people in the building at any time. We sell our visits in 2.5 hour play sessions and certainly have plenty of activities for families to enjoy whilst here. Our role-play village has new safety measures too, which I'm pleased left you feeling reassured. I do hope you can visit us again soon. Hub Towers, our new role-play feature will be opening sometime in September, I do hope you can come back and experience it. Kind regards, Ellis Potter

Fantastic place!

We visited the Hub for the first time on Sunday. We were really impressed with it! When looking into the price it isn’t cheap, you need to pay a £5 registration fee per family on your first visit only, this will mean all your details are on the system and you have a card to swipe when you go so won’t need to tell them your details each time. The cost per child/adult isn’t cheap either but I would say it’s well worth it. You can’t book before you arrive, just turn up on the day. The website says you are paying for a 2.5 hour session, I believe this is only implemented on busy days as there was no mention to us and we stayed for 4 hours.
Different areas:
There are so many different areas, it’s amazing! There is a under 1s area, under 5’s area, sensory room, disco room, main frame which is the large play area, climbing wall, go karts, role play village, crazy golf, laser quest and even more!
There is so much to do and so much detail in each of the areas. All really well kept and clean, you can tell they update the areas regularly and they are all colourful and creative!
The cafe:
You can’t take your own food into the hub which I’d say is standard for these type of places. The prices are average but the food is really good! Our table had either pizza or Jacket potatoes which were all lovely. The kids meals are £3.95, there are either hot meals or pack lunches for them. Lots of different options for the kids!
Only issue we had was the parking, there were staff outside guiding people where to park when we arrived, we got a space fine as arrived early. Then when we left we had cars in the space closely either side of us and a car had been allowed to park behind us in a area that wasn’t a parking space. The lady tried to guide us out but we couldn’t get out so she had to ask someone to move their car, we heard this over the tannoy a couple of times when we were there “could this number plate move their car as someone is trying to get out” I did wonder if you had your kids alone it would be a pain taking them out to move the car. Not sure how this can be fixed but something to think about!
Overall a fantastic visit throughly enjoyed by all the family and we will be back soon, thank-you!! Highly recommended!

Thank you for such a well-detailed review of your visit, it is much appreciated. I am really pleased to see that you all had a great time and enjoyed the different play facilities we have. As you mentioned, we are always updating our play areas and working hard on keeping them all clean, safe and in full working order (not easy with so many different pieces of play equipment!). I was particularly pleased to see that you enjoyed our food. Everything is cooked from fresh. If you visit us again, I would recommend the pizza. I do hope your next visit will be every bit as enjoyable as your first visit was. Kind regards, Ellis Potter

We usually go to the hub 2-4 times a year as a family of six it can get expensive but it’s a real favourite with all our children aged (12-1) we’ve been coming since our eldest was 7 and it’s still the best place for family fun.
We love how it’s constantly changing and updating to offer different experiences each time we come. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Let me just state that this soft play in terms of facilities and activities is the best in the area, no doubt about that at all. Our kids loved every part of it… however the experience didn’t feel comfortable…

When I went online to book tickets I noticed that there were blocked sessions so I immediately thought there would be some form of capacity control in place. Upon arrival we were met before we got to the car park to say it was full and we would need to park at the nursery half a mile away… once we managed to get into the building, we spent the next 15 minutes trying to find a table to park ourselves. The centre was overflowing with people, had this not been a pandemic then I might have understood but the number of people made us feel uncomfortable. If you haven’t got enough tables for families then surely that says something. It seems the owners cared more about profit than the safety of their customers. Although you needed to wear a mask to enter, many people weren’t wearing them inside which again was not great.
Once the centre started to empty out we found ourselves a table and purchased refreshments. Upon returning to our table after playing with our kids, our table had been cleared and staff could give no explanation as to why…

The soft play is amazing from a facility perspective but the lack of customer experience leaves a lot to be desired!

Thank you for reviewing your visit to Riverside Hub, your feedback is very important to us. We have reduced our visitor capacity to 70% of what it used to be pre-covid. We could allow 100% of our allocated fire capacity of visitors in, but we feel that 70% is enough, as we want to give our visitors a more enjoyable and slightly more spacious experience than they had in the past. The rules have now recently changed, so that it is up to each individual now whether they choose to wear a face covering or not. It's no secret that we could do with more parking spaces here at the Hub. At weekends, we can fill our car park, but we do have additional parking available a short walk away. Parking is free at the moment, but we are toying with the ide of charging for parking in future, which may encourage people to car-share more. Later this year we will be adding more floorspace to the Hub, with additional mezzanines, which wil enable people to space out even more. I am sorry to hear that your table was cleared before you were finished. We are currently looking into ways in which our visitors can signal to our cleaning team that they have not yet finished with their food. As I mentioned earlier, we are really grateful for all feedback, good or bad, as we are always trying to our offering. Kind regards, Ellis Potter

Riverside Hub simply cannot be beaten! We found that the big play centres in Milton Keynes are all dirty and in some cases both dark and dirty. Carpet everywhere, shoes everywhere and food everywhere. You won't find any of this at Riverside Hub. They have a very clever setup in that the main area with tables and food is all in the middle, very spacious and allows you to see everything. The entire place is also bright and inviting. They are constantly clearing and cleaning tables so you really can relax whilst the kids play. The kids always have fun at Riverside because there are so many things to do. They have recently refurbed to make the please even better and so the sensory/younger area is now much bigger and better. The toddler village is absolutely superb with the different themes. My favourite is the Land Rover area and the attention to detail whilst my daughter absolutely loves the hair salon. The big play area is of course great fun for the older kids and the fact that you can do climbing, merry go round & the go karts without extra cost is really good! This last trip, we ordered food to the table via the app which was handy and then there was a candle floss machine also which the kids loved. I have seen some reviews mention the price as being high but I really don't understand how that can be said. Riverside Hub cost me a third of the price of the zoo or Peppa Pig world and the kids had far more fun at Riverside.

While this is a decent soft play venue, the prices charged do not justify the experience.

At £7.50 entry for adults, £12.50 for 1-3 year olds and £15.00 for a 4 year old, plus an arbitrary £1.00 booking fee you are looking at £35.50 to take two kids in here for 2.5 hours of play.

I find this frankly a complete rip off, and while its true to say you can choose not to go, I expected more for the money. We usually take the children to soft pay elsewhere and I can take both kids and myself through the door for less than it costs for my 4yo here. It simply not worth the cost.

Looking back through reviews here, they were charging half what they are now a few years ago. Even with the cost of living increases we all have to put up with, more than doubling their prices in the intervening time cannot be justified.

Won't be returning - suggest you look elsewhere as well.

I am sorry to see that you are unhappy with our pricing. We have a huge level of investment in play equipment here (and all the ongoing cleaning and maintenance that goes with it). Costs have gone through the roof in the last year. Just looking at our electricity bill for one example - it used to cost us £4,000 a quarter for our electricity, whilst it is now over £6,000 a MONTH. We have levels of expenditure which are previously unheard of in indoor play (over £3 million so far), so sadly we can never be the cheapest place to visit. With so much to do for children of all ages though, we aim to be a really fun visit. Our play sessions are for 2.5 hours, but if you are not parked with us (if you get dropped off or park on one of the other roads on Riverside Park), then you can stay for as long as you like. I hope this helps you to better understand why we charge what we do. Kind regards, Ellis Potter

Well my wife and her friend have just returned from The Riverside Hub and having taken the friends grandchild for an afternoon out. I was shocked and amazed that they were charged £7.50 each for an adult and £12 for an under 3 year old. My wife went to park the car as their is insufficient parking and walked back from the main shops. Her friend paid the charges as she could not go back to my wife who was parking the car. So in short it cost £27 for a 2 and a half year old to play for 3 Hours. Whilst the activities were good they cater for a multitude of age ranges and this is not value for anyone. How you can charge for adults to enter a play facility is beyond me. It was not as if it had free tea and coffee!

Thank you for raising your concerns about why we charge what we do. All the facilities at Riverside Hub are designed so that adults can participate in all the facilities alongside their children. So for £7.50 you can enjoy unlimited rides on our go-karts, carousel, climbing activities, golf, laser tag, sensory rooms etc. Most leisure venues (cinema's farm parks etc.) charge the same admission, or more, for adults as they do for children. We do make a small charge, which covers the cost of the maintenance on our equipment. For example, our go-karts are needing constant repair from a car mechanic, as the additional weight of adults riding on them wears out their parts in a fraction of the time that they normally would wear out in. It is of course up to each person whether or not they choose to join in on all the play facilities, but we do need to make a charge, as our operating costs (rent, rates, electricity, maintenance, staff wages etc. are colossal. I hope this helps you to better understand our pricing. Kind regards, Ellis Potter P.S. If you are looking for a cheaper visit, then on schooldays you can get 20% off your whole admission before 2pm and 40% off after 2pm, plus a free 3rd visit too (and we are usually much quieter on schooldays than at weekends).

Took my 6 year old son on a Saturday afternoon, first time we have visited for ages but from following the FB page we’ve been impressed with how the Hub have reacted to the coronavirus and the measures they’ve put in place so wanted to visit and as soon as the government announced soft plays could re-open we were on it!

It all felt very clean and there was plenty of hand washing facilities, sanitiser and staff regularly cleaning. Reduced capacity made it a really good experience, no queuing, easy to social distance and adults on the equipment all wearing masks.

Very minor issues with some parents not supervising kids (had to tell a couple of littlies not to climb the slides when other kids were whizzing down if they didn’t want to get injured) but generally all very good - relaxed, quiet atmosphere and didn’t feel hectic like soft play sometimes does. Loads included for the price - soft play, role play, pottery painting, carousel, go karts, climbing tree, sensory golf etc

We had a great time and will return!

I’ve brought my son here 4 times in the last 6 months and loved it every time!

It’s quite pricey, especially if you have more than one child and older ones or have to visit outside of school hours. I’ve only visited in the middle of the day in the week as my son is only 2.

Compared to other play areas I take him to there’s a million times more to do, so to me, the price is definitely worth it and they do your 3rd visit free so it averages out at a reasonable price.

Everywhere is well maintained, not tatty like other places we go to.

There’s so many different areas with the role play village, sensory section, disco room, sand room, go karts, carousel, crazy golf, climbing walls, laser quest. There’s nowhere else I can think of with so much to do and my son loves it!

The staff are always friendly and hardworking. Food options are really good and quality is good too.

We live an hour away but it’s totally worth the drive!

Thank you for such a well-detailed review of your visits. You are getting great value by visiting on our Saver Days. It does make visits a lot cheaper if you can get to us on those days. We are usually quieter on those days too. I am pleased that you find we are well worth the drive over and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards, Ellis Potter

I travelled from Luton to take my boys here, so glad we did. When we arrived there were some issues getting parked, the manager came out and suggested somewhere near by we could park for free, so we parked near the KFC a short walk away. We were issued with a free drink voucher for any inconvenience, which was nice.

Inside the Hub , the staff were polite and helpful. I forgot socks and a staff member so kindly gave me a free pair. The play centre is huge and there is so so to do. My youngest loved the under 5s room, where it is quieter and calm. My eldest loved the laser tag and the big soft play area.

Everything is spotlessly clean and staff are constantly cleaning the seating area. There are hand santisers every where you look which is reassuring.

We also eat pizza and chips from here and was happy with the taste and the price. The milkshakes are amazing!

I will certainly be visiting again, it was such a lovely treat for my boys.
