What a great setting as one drives over the fine arched 18th century stone bridge into the park surrounding this lovely Queen Anne house. We had a little time before our booked house tour, so began to wander around the lovely herbaceous borders. Tall flowering plants in profusion and so well advanced after a dreadful, so far, English summer. Our... More

I took a group here in June. We all went round the house and saw the staggering picture collection and some fantastic bronzes. I particularly like the rider feeding her horse from on horseback. There are Herrings, Munnings and Lionel Edwards by the dozen! I was glad to see that security is very tight. The gardens are spectacular although the... More

Only did the garden, not the house. Garden lovely especially the part by the river. Refreshments a bit poor, luckily we had had lunch beforehand as only do tea and cake.

It is probably 20 years since we have visited Cottesbrooke but we remembered it as a lovely place to visit and we were not disappointed. The setting is delightful and the gardens are well kept. The house would be particularly interesting to those who love equestrian paintings but there is also an excellent collection of porcelain. We have to add... More

Visited yesterday with small group, delightful, peaceful gardens and grounds, good tea shop. Superbly proportioned Queen anne house in fine order. Can't be equally complementary about house tour however, far too rushed with the tour guides obviously keen on adhering to some timetable, I found their manner officious and unable to answer questions on anything bar the endless horse paintings... gardens weren't up to a high standard. Felt we were there as an inconvenience, as our guide was a little rough and didn't seem very knowledgeable. Won't visit again, have since visited other houses and gardens with really enthusiastic guides.

Beautiful house and garden, we try to visit every year and always take the guided tour of the house. The guides are very knowledgeable and the rooms and contents are lovely. It was a beautiful sunny day when we visited last week which made our visit even more enjoyable. As this house is lived in by the family it only... More

We went to see the Handlebards playing Midsummer Night's Dream, as this venue holds outdoor events. A lovely setting for these events. A stunning view as you arrive down the long drive to the car park. Gardens are lovely.

Visited on a wet bank holiday and the house has lots of interesting artefacts and the tour guide was very informative. The gardens looked lovely but as it was raining there was not much investigating we would do so will pay another visit when the weather is drier

The highlight of the visit was the guided tour. As there is a tour every 15 minutes, this seems to keep the tour groups small. Although the tour was only 45 minutes long, we were shown a good numbers of very nice rooms, with the commentary being interesting and fast paced. The formal gardens were quite extensive, very colourful and... More
