Extremely noisy karaoke
Nov 2021 • Family
I’m currently in a family room with my daughter and there’s horrendous karaoke going on downstairs, it’s a Wednesday night at 10.40pm, it’s so loud it’s making the room vibrate there’s zero chance of getting any sleep. I’ve asked for a refund so we can go somewhere else but they’ve refused. They shouldn’t rent the rooms without telling people how noisy it is.

Worth a visit
Nov 2021 • Couples
A very small attraction under a pub cellar but only costs a couple of pounds and is worth a visit. The guy on the desk made the attraction as he was very knowledgeable of the roman baths and was very enthusiastic. Very interesting to see some York Roman history.

Unenjoyable experience
Oct 2021
Not the most exciting of experiences. We went to the bar and bought a drink and asked about the musuem under the pub. We were told to pay downstairs but we were not told that the museum was to soon close and we missed out on seeing the roman ruins. Most of the York sights we visited were pleased to see us but here the customm was abit surly.

Worth going any time of day

This will always be the best karaoke in York. We'll worth a visit and the bar staff go out of their way to help you and have huge smiles. I miss the place something awful and everyone in it.

What have the Romans done for us?...

Every pub needs a gimmick, a hook to bring in the punters. This one has the remains of a Roman bath house in the cellar - it’s a good one!

Down the stairs you’re met by the caretaker – a wizened little old man who, I believe, lives down there, just curling up in a corner at night and ready to greet the paying visitors during the day.

The ruins are impressive and apparently – if they ever dig up the rest of York - the structure extends out even further than the pub cellar.

The ruins are 2000 years old, maybe the oldest structure you’ll see in York. Brickwork and paving stones that Roman soldiers worked and walked upon. It’s worth seeing.

If you are thinking about going to the Museum, dont! And the pub is full of old alcoholic men.

Rude man on the door, huffing and puffing about me not having a mask, covid conscious to the extreme yet happy to take your money. Tried to give me a lecture about how it’s a small area and that it’s for the safety of others (I get it if this was months ago before the rule lift). I’m double jabbed, if you feel you are still vulnerable after 2 jabs at this current stage, then stay at home. If you haven’t had 2 jabs and are worried, then stay at home… Anyway, I said I’d leave which is when the man had a change of heart, oh it will be fine, I’ll take your money (not without a lecture though). Museum is not worth it, tiny and not much to see. Definitely not worth the money, go to Yorkshire Museum instead.

Lovely small museum underneath the pub. Well preserved and looked after. Worth a visit especially if you have a York pass.

Definitely worth a visit so add it to your list

Two friends and I visited The Roman Bath in York and would definitely recommend visiting it. There is a surprising amount to learn about the Romans when in the York area, the baths culture in Roman times and military history of the Romans in York. The remains you can see are good as well and the man who runs it very knowledgeable about the era. It is quirky being under a pub. For only £3.50 you really should add it to your visit when in York.

Definitely not a restful night's sleep

So very very noisy. But not from the pub (there were no bands playing). We had room 1, overlooking the square. It's just a single pain of glass in the window and might as well have not been there for all the good it did. Even though it was a Tuesday, we had drunk revellers outside the window From 11pm until about 2am, then somewhere around 6am the deliveries started. In between, it was just the creaky beds to provide aural inspiration. The pub itself is disappointing, with no real ales available. But at least the rooms are clean.
