Only a short street but it does have some fine drinking establishments (Trembling Madness, Yorkshire Terrier), a Betty's outlet, a Christmas shop, and other independent shops.

Always try to walk here when in York, the shops are great as are the buildings. At this time of year though it all becomes a bit magical with the Christmas decorations. Great selection of shops to visit or just look at. A must see...More

We last walked down Stonegate in February but the transformation with all the Christmas lights was unbelievable. Certainly a great place having an evening stroll down.

This isn't quite as iconic as The Shambles but it's still a great little shopping street to wander up and down. There are some lovely quirky shops, cafes and restaurants.

A great place to window shop and so much to see. Was busy but that’s to be expected on a Saturday. Will be back again

Gotta visit here whilst in York! Shops are amazing to see! Few quirky old pubs you can’t not like it here! Always busy but it’s popular just on a pat to The Shambles. Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed.

Like the Shambles (q.v.) this is a Street that tourists should not miss. It’s paved with cobble stones and Yorkshire flagstones and is lined some many ancient buildings, some of which house some interesting shops. There are olde worlde pubs, upstairs drinking bars, tourist shops...More

This shopping street really did have character. Sadly most of that is lost, with elegant and historic shops like Mulberry Hall, closing their doors. There are some tacky shops now and along with much of York, it has certainly gone down market.

A broader thoroughfare than the Shambles but to me a no less interesting old English street. The establishments on here are certainly more interesting (some good upstairs bars if you know where to look, and a couple of older school pubs as well as other...More
