We have been promising our youngest to do this walk for some time and we finally managed it. This seems to be the way residents get around York centre avoiding the traffic and erm...tourists? We even met two young lads on mountain bikes. Not sure they should have been there...anyway, it was a good way to get from Clifford Street... More

I used to walk the walls whilst living in York when I was stressed; they offer a relaxing walk around the city centre in a park-like setting. Views of the minster are excellent, and there are many benches along the walk to sit and watch the world go by. There are frequent stairs which give easy access to parks and... More

I walked the walls yesterday on a crisp sunny morning, and it was a lovely experience. When it's relatively quiet (which it is on a February morning), there's no better way to see York. You get a good walk and a lot of sightseeing. Plus, there are plenty of ways on and off the walls.

This is a relatively comfortable walk, with many different views of the beautiful City of York. Give yourself a good couple of hours, or try a "hop on hop off£ experience. It's right up there with the Minster as a "must do"!

A lovely and gentle walk ( quite a few steep steps ) and the best way to see the city. You can get on and off the wall at various places and look round different areas and maybe have refreshments then get back on. A lovely attraction for all the family... and free :)

A lovely historical walk for the whole family - you can get on the walls at various spots, and get off to have a coffee. May be a bit dangerous at some places for small children, but perfectly fine for 7 year old and older.

The best way for seeing York, I've seen places walking on the wall which I didn't know was there and it's enjoyable though it maybe a bit hard for older people and its got some steep edges so not for little kids.

Really good for nosey people like me. We saw the backs of lots of beautiful house especially near the minster. Lots of sitting areas along the walls. Great for kids

As a resident I sometimes take some things in town for granted. We had some visitors this weekend, and I wanted to show them some sights, so we took a walk around the walls. We started at Micklegate bar and headed South around the Nunnery Lane car park. We could see the old Terry's factory and race course grandstand from... More

A lovely historical walk seeing York from a different angle it takes you back to Roman times it costs nothing and will take you about 1-2 hours. Well worth doing on a nice day there's also plenty of opportunities to hop off and grab a cup of tea.
