Well worth a visit.
Sep 2021
My parents & I visited here shortly after our stay in Lancashire & en route to our stay near this place at another bed & breakfast.

There was lots of interesting things to see: animals, farming vehicles, etc.

The catering was'nt up to much though, just a temporary shelter selling bagels & cakes, everyone had to wait at least an hour, shamefully slow at times, what this place could do with is a cafe or tea room really!

We chatted with a very nice young lady called Jess, who is events manager for Murton Park.

I really liked seeing the vintage tractors & the 2 steam engines.

I also got to hold an owl, thank you to one of the men running the stand who assisted me.

All in all, a nice place to visit, aside from the catering.

Best value for money in York
Sep 2021 • Family
We love Murton Park! I can't believe it took us so long to visit. We were blown away by our first trip before Easter and have visited numerous times since as payment for one visit grants you a years access! Best value for money in the area by miles.

We are lucky to live just down the road so have visited when there have been special events and during the week in term time when it's quieter. The play area, animals and nature trail are big hits and we love the addition of the fairy doors. The animals always look very well cared for and my daughters always look out for the Shetland ponies Poppet and Jigsaw. I was so impressed by the medieval villages and we've interacted with cowboys and vikings on some of our visits.

We had our first journey on the DVLR today which was an absolute delight and so exciting for my girls.

We will continue to visit Murton Park as one of our staple days out and have already booked our tickets to see Santa!

Thank you for providing an amazing affordable experience for the families around York.

Really interesting for families with young children. Plenty of animals and a good play area. The entrance fee enables repeat visits for a year. We enjoyed the history and farming vehicles. There is an audio tour as well as signs and information.

Fantastic find

This place is an absolute gem. We have visited twice in the last month; the tickets being valid for a year is amazing value! On our first visit we met some vikings and today we trained for the Roman Army. There’s a nature walk, animals, historical recreations (which are fantastic when there’s re-enactors present), indoor exhibits on farming, we got to see a blacksmith on site, indoor play (the small soft play was closed, but there was a little play shop, vet clinic and a toy farm they could get stuck into - mine are 7 & 9 now but still loved this imaginative play), there’s a great play area and picnic area, the cafe serves reasonably priced and good food, and we’ve also been lucky enough to see a shunting demonstration and sit in the drivers seat of one of the diesel trains. I can honestly say we are going to get so much use out of our yearly pass it’s untrue. It’s not high octane fun as others have pointed out, but that’s not what you come to a farming museum for surely?! This is one of my new favourite places. Brilliant.

A good day out.

A brilliant place to go, we really enjoyed our day. The trains were brilliant, and the volunteers were brilliant too, they were incredibly friendly and helpful.
One complaint, we had lunch in the cafe, and the staff were very rude and abrupt, we were shocked and disappointed, especially as it wasn't even busy. The table and chairs hadn't been wiped down from the previous customers, and due to the circumstances of Covid this isn't good. I'd love to give this place 5 out of 5, but due to the rude cafe staff it's been dropped to 3, but top marks to the volunteers on the trains.

A great day out!
May 2021 • Family
I visited today with my two children - one 18 months and one 3 and a half. We all had a wonderful time! Plenty to keep us busy for a full day - playground, animals, indoor play areas, museums, tractors etc. We loved the huge sand pit and mud kitchen, although it was more of a sand kitchen. I enjoyed the land army exhibition and I would’ve liked to have spent time visiting the Viking village and Roman fort but they were in use by school trips. My only criticism would be that the cafe was closed as it was mid week - this was explained to me on entry (when I asked), however I’d read that there was a cafe on the website so I hadn’t packed enough lunch. Despite this, we all had a fantastic day out and would definitely visit again.

Not a lot to see and the trains weren't running, but if you are local this is great value for money as your entry ticket lasts twelve months

A hidden gem

What a find! 2 visits in 1 week. 7 and 4 year old loved the mix of history, animals, nature trail and fantastic play area area for youngsters. Viking village and Roman Fort were brilliant. We were lucky enough to be there when some Vikings were visiting. They spent so much of their time teaching my little boys about viking life and weaponry. Can't wait to visit on some of the History themed weekends. The place is well designed, thought out and clean. Cafe serving take out currently. Picnic area next to the play area is helpful and situated in the sun which was lovely. Reasonably priced gift shop. The whole place occupied my boys for hours. We visited from Leeds and it was definitely worth the drive out for a day trip. Also great value with tickets valid for a year. Will be back!

Love this place!

Me and my family love it here. Such a relaxing day out. I especially like all the themed events they put on such as at Easter and Halloween. Also, we love seeing the historic groups and of the course having a ride on the train. The cafe is also nice and very reasonably priced.

Fabulous trip to see Santa.
Dec 2020 • Family
Lovely experience with very friendly and welcoming staff, Very COVID secure and they've done well to change it to make it safe, children get money from Santa to choose own gift which is a lovely idea, Santa takes time to communicate with each child and doesn't rush there magical moment which was just lovely.
