We were scheduled on a train--first class seats--to London. Train was on the other platform. Woman trapped in elevator meant carrying my luggage up and over the tracks via walkway. We got on the train, found seats, stored luggage. Train cancelled due to ''electric train''...More

This large and busy station does a lot to help the traveller. the signage is good, though people don't know their left from their right. The announcer is clear and genuinely helpfull. The Food and drink outlets are adequate though Starbucks is a bit 1970s....More

Compared to Birmingham New Street this is a station for passengers. Only down side is the left luggage, they are so ashamed of their overcharging they don't even have a price list on the wall just a list to show they are cheaper than those...More

The old city station is a major transport hub, with at least 4 different rail franchises use the station every day. However you could miss the fantastic architecture and the space within the station If you are a modern traveller these probably pass you by...More

Clean and tidy station. Helpful staff. Could do with a few more benches on the platforms. Especially good is the travel centre just as you leave the station. The staff there are very knowledgeable and helpful about places of interest, train and bus routes, etc....More

I was travelling back from York after a business visit the other day and decided to come back to London by rail. I caught the train from York Station which must be one of most lovely, old, Victorian stations in the north of the country....More

The York railway station is a historic cast-iron construction building with late 19th century decorations. It's pretty windswept, and has limited choices for food, drink or comfortable waiting areas. Tip: there's a passenger lounge tucked away between two sets of tracks that's warm and out...More

Easy to see the departures board to avoid missing train. Ladies toilet easy to access in centre of waiting area. Nice 20 RA York tap on site ideal if you have some time to wait. Station itself is nicely old fashioned with bridges over lines...More

Yes there's a food shop selling drinks, sandwiches etc. Also a WH Smith, a pasty shop, a pub and lots of kiosks. No problem getting a drink.
