Central and almost the main hub it seemed of York. Station is large and worth a visit even if not catching a train. We were there to see the Flying Scotsman that was very popular. Parking is £7 for the day on weekends, £15.50 in the week that seems very expensive. Mens toilets were filthy

Quite a large station and busy. I asked the guy at the Virgin kiosk for the information I needed, very helpful.

We found the railway station easy to access and very central to the city. There was attendants available to ask questions and they were very helpful and friendly.

If you are coming to York by train this is where you will arrive. It's a very grand station with a huge trainshed and curving platforms. If you want to visit the National Railway Museum do not leave from the main entrance. Instead head in the opposite direction which will save a good 10 minute walk. All the staff I... More

Now we realise the significance of the UK Railway Heritage, station buildings such as this are getting the recognition they deserve, Rather than just being a hub for onward travel, or for visits to York itself, the station is worth a look around, preferably from either end of the main platforms, where the arched roof can be viewed.

This really is the same as most large stations. Has shops which are expensive which is usual anywhere there are departures, but the same as take-away snack shops in the city. There is an advantage with this station where trains can be viewed arriving and leaving. This is from the viewing platform at the National Railway Museum which over-looks the... More
