Beautiful medieval building.

Located on College Street in the shadows of York Minster is St William's College, a beautiful timbered building.
A Grade I listed building, it served as accommodation for priests attached to chantry chapels in the vicinity of York Minster.
Founded by George Neville and The Earle Of Warwick in 1460 with work beginning on this present structure in 1465 .
I not only love the look of this building but I am staggered by the age of it ,its just an amazing piece of architecture, its an evocative piece of architecture, so photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities, my twin brother Stephen and I had just visited York Minster and we were on our way for a cooling real ale each in The Cross Keys Pub ,couldn't help ourselves checking out this beautiful and historic structure before we moved on.
An unbelievably beautiful building, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Lovely old buildings of St.Williams College
Sep 2018 • Couples
One of the atmospheric spots in York... lovely old buildings so typical to the old town, great place to take pictures of York Minster walls, and charming artisan shop, tiny tea room, and a little restaurant are right there... very pretty place and not crowded, which is a huge plus.

Haunted lodgings for Clergymen
Jan 2015 • Solo
One of York's finest timber-framed buildings, dating back to 1465. It was built to house clergymen and was located close to the Minster so that the Archbishop could keep a watchful eye on their behaviour. It is one of the many haunted buildings in the city and some of the Ghost walks terminate here.

St Williams College is an old timber-framed building with a lot of history and character. It was built in 1465 for York Minster's chantry priests - about 24 of them who were paid for praying for the souls of their deceased benefactors. The building was named after archbishop Williams Fitzherbert who was canonised in 1227. The College was founded in 1461. It also housed the printing press of King Charles 1.

It’s a Grade 1 listed building with a ground floor that has restaurants and four chambers available for rent for events. The building is beautiful to see in the shadow of the Minster. Walk this way after seeing the Minster and also stop into the National Trust shop just two doers down for a great selection of trust items and local souvenirs.

St. Williams is a lovely venue for a wedding with fantastic historical and picturesque backdrops for perfect post-event photos!

What a fantastic venue! Attended conference at which our evening meal was held at St. Williams college. Believe it was founded in late 1400s and so building typical of that period. Setting really added to our night.

This long stretch of buildings is very nice to look at with the plaster/woodwork and is in front of York Minster and beside the Treasurers House

Craft Fair at St Williams College.
We stumbled on a craft fair that was being held one Sunday upstairs in St Williams College. The local crafts were great but the inside of this place is amazing. The timbers and paintings all make for a genuine old atmosphere. A real gem.
I found this page about St Williams College with some good photos already. [--]
