Great museum. You can definitely tell a lot of money has gone into the museum and it's really well-presented. I liked the dinosaur section and there's a lot of information about the Romans. There's a small gift shop at the end too. It's not a free museum but I think the price is worth it.

Much more to see than I was expecting here! Very good value for money. Plenty of history from different ages and very informative staff. Good for families as well as there is plenty to keep small kids engaged!

The gardens are beautiful with old growth trees and wonderful spring flowers coming up when I was there. The gardens border the river and are a wonderful place to recalibrate from all the ships!

This museum is well laid out to show the history of Yorkshire - with special focus on York itself. On occasion exhibits do not state where they are from - which can lead to a lack of context when they are not from Yorkshire. The Roman and Medieval sections are particularly good, together with the James Hutton display and maps. The Star Carr exhibits - head-dresses and the pendant are really special - but could be displayed better. The free leaflet is useful - particularly highlighting the "star items" which should not be missed.
