It's so close to York Minster that we included a short visit to Treasurer's House on our day trip. We were attracted by the well manicured lawn, beautiful flowers and statues in the front garden as well, great for families with young kids. The house is pretty well maintained by National Trust (which we're members of). There're lots of info... More

We stopped in here after a city tour. We are members so we always try to do the trusts properties in cities we visit. Quite large by city centre standards. The room guides are informative.

We are National trust members and found this gem of a place in the handbook. What a find. We both loved it. Knowledgeable staff and great things to look at. Would visit again.

This is a very interesting house next to the York Minster. If you are interested in the history of the area, this is a nice visit for a rainy day. As usual, the National Trust volunteers who are there, are extremely enthusiastic and informed about the property. It is really wonderful to hear what they have to say as they... More

Third visit to this house. Love the clock which is displayed on two floors. We enjoyed the ghost tour in the cellars - yes, I believed it!

The house in parts dates back several hundred years but the guy who gave it to the NT was a rather eccentric victorian industrialist who changed pretty much everything about the place after he bought it. Some original features but quite difficult to work out what without the room guides helping unpick what you were seeing. The overall impact of... More

A brilliant September Sunday with the sun shining on the Minster; we could have been tempted to walk the streets and be photographed by the (other) tourists, but ... glad we didn't. Welcomed as soon as we arrived with options for the ghost tour of the cellar or a climb through the attic, we were overwhelmed by interested volunteers wanting... More

Wonderful house and pretty gardens set just behind York Minster. The peaceful gardens are an ideal place to spend time in a tranquil atmosphere but just a short walk from the busy centre of York. The house was very interesting with informative, friendly volunteers. Unfortunately, at the time that we visited the house was being prepared for a Vivienne Leigh... More
