York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

Firstly, the guy who led the terror trail was insane. However, this added to the enjoyment of the evening. The evening consisted of a mix of fascinating facts about acts of terror that have taken place, aspects of history and half hearted audience participation all evolving whilst walking around the city of York. Fantastic evening and very entertaining.

We had a great time skipping about York and listening to gruesome and amusing tails about the history of York. There were a few sad rather eye opening tails as well. Our guide, Thomas Teach, was a brilliant story teller and a great historian with a quirky sense of humor that kept you well entertained. We rambled around the shambles... More

Started at the Golden Fleece (excellent pub!) and lasted for roughly an hour, walking around York with an RAF serviceman as our guide. Excellent evening of entertainment! Loved every minute, definitely one of the best we've done in York, and we've done a few. When we returned to the Golden Fleece our guide took us through to the courtyard and... More

Our guide was a brilliant story teller. Sometimes gruesome, sometimes plain old sad, and the humour along the way helped enjoy the experience. A great way to learn York's history and dark past.

We had a fabulous time on The Terror Trail with the thoroughly entertaining 'Tom Teach'... A funny, knowledgeable guide who delivered an interesting tour with plenty of facts on the gruesome history of York. Enjoyed learning with his flamboyant flair offering many giggles throughout and captivating conversation after at 'The Golden Fleece'. Particularly enjoyed the skipping and Errol Flynn poses!... Fantastic evening, this guy is a gent. Very interesting stories told is a Dr who style... (in our opinion) may favorite part was that at the end of the tour he invited us in for a drink in the pub, and was super chill to talk to! Absolute legend.

We found out about the tour whilst having a drink at The Golden Fleece and it was absolutely amazing. The group size was small enough that you didn't feel swallowed by the crowd and the guide (Sorry we can't remember his name) was the perfect mix of entertaining, funny and super knowledgeable! As a group of friends we'd definitely recommend... More

Find out about the "Gruesome" history of York. An Hour and a halve's guided tour of the sites, presented in an entertaining and "no holds barred " way, by an excellent guide.

During a visit to York my friend and I decided to do a ghost walk. We decided upon this one as we had seen the chap the night before with a group and he looked very good. He didn't disappoint. He was 90 minutes of pure history combined with fun and theatrics. He was comical, factual and got his audience... More
