The gardens give you the feel of an Arboretum....Well presented gardens lovely to spend time in if you've had a couple of pints of strong ale and need to lie down on the grass and watch clouds float by........or just to be in a little oasis of nature. :-))

Most people end up walking through the garden/park to get from one place to another, to rest or to picnic It is close to the river and tourist sights so it is frequent by locals and tourists

This is a lovely stroll through the gardens with various ruins remaining with public access for free. You can touch the ruins, see how they worked with each other in the scheme of their existence and enjoy the well maintained huge gardens. Had breakfast in the park on a recent visit to York.Lovely place. Theres the ruins of an old abbey, and there was also a bird display on when we visited. Ive cream truck. 2 min walk from York centre.
