A haven for a quiet lunch picnic or relaxing in the sun to people watch away from the crowded streets. You can also sit by the riverside and watch boats.

This summer has been really dry so the expected greenness of the lawn was temporarily turned into a greenish one. Nevertheless, this place smells of quietness and silence. Lots of people tend to come here to relax, sit on the grass or just walk around...More

Well maintained gardens housing the Yorkshire Museum and ruins of St Mary's Abbey. Look out for the roman Tower too. Great place for a picnic. Peacocks and squirrels around..

A great place to escape the bustle of the city centre. Today there were Birds of Prey that could (for a fee) be held. Make sure you walk round the full gardens, particularly the abbey ruins.

Very few places to visit in York are free so be sure to visit one that is free. The gardens near the river are beautiful. The ruined Abbey is interesting and there are cafes to use. A good lunch picnic spot.
