The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. We promise a unique opportunity to discover the hidden magic of our ancient City through the real art of storytelling. Tales are drawn from the immense history of York and are told against a backdrop of haunting beauty. We walk in the very footsteps of those who have passed before.

I’m not into storytelling or ghosts but went with mom who is. She really enjoyed this. The ghosts stories weren’t scary but interesting. The guide was really good at telling them but he talked really fast. We took a historical tour the day after this...More

Interesting, and funny at times. The guide knew his history and bought the ghostly past to life. Thank you for a great evening.

My husband and I decided to go on this walk based on previous very good reviews. The host of our tour was Christian who proved to be a very informative and entertaining speaker( he should be on the stage!) Whilst the ghost stories were not...More

The ghost tours are basically the same. I took this one and liked it. However, it was definitely a bit cheesy, and probably better for younger kids than for adults. I personally am not that interested in ghosts, so I didn’t find it particularly interesting...More

Sorry we disappointed you. We usually include lots of history. What night did you come and where did you start the tour from. Big thanks MG

Recommended by our hotel, this was a highlight of a 3 day break in York. Priced at £5 adults and £4 children, the tour began at The Kings Arms by the river, sign on the side of building and was a leisurely stroll around the...More

From the origins of "Georgie Porgie pudding and pie" to Guy Fawkes wrath, the tour was both entertaining and personable with the tour guide taking time to talk to each member of the group and remembering details that he would later related to the chilling...More

We've been to York many times and not done this so gave it a go. Our guide was Pat and he was really good - very entertaining, very interesting stories. Although we know York quite well, we saw things we'd just not noticed before. Not...More

We went on this tour the other day and we enjoyed the walk and the stories. Mark is a talented story teller with a voice that booms impressively across the river! It is an easy, well paced walk about various sites in the city and...More

Informative, dark humoured tour of the supernatural history of york’s past. Mark is s great tour guide. He took time to talk to all of the people on the tour individually. And he’s very entertaining. Definitely worth a visit at £5 per adult.

Yes, the tour is suitable, but there is a lot of cobbled street. There wasn’t any steps on tour which I chose.
