St Nicks is the green heart of York: a centre for nature and green living. The charity started as ‘Friends of St Nicholas Fields’ in the 1990s by transforming a former landfill site into a thriving Local Nature Reserve. We continue to manage it, with the help of many great volunteers, for the benefit of both wildlife and our visitors.

I often visit St Nicks nature reserve to relax and look at the wildlife. It's conveniently placed just 10 mins from the city centre, near Lawrence Street. They also run great events in their community building, such as their yearly Autumn fair, which is great...More

Popped in here on a visit to our daughters. Seems strange to have an area of peace and tranquility in the middle of a housing estate but it works. You hear very little noise from outside. The centre staff are welcoming and happy to answer...More
