Set at the top of 199 steps, the abbey is stunning and very picturesque. Great photo opportunities. We paid about £7 each to get in, with an audio tour provided. Can be windy and cold even in summer, so wrap up.

It was a long climb up the 199 steps, but well worth it. The Audio tour was useful, and being able to dip in and out of it, made the tour the length of our choice. The different coloured stone looked beautiful in the sunshine. the views across Whitby were lovely. The staff were very helpful.

The Abbey is great place to visit, lots of historical interest for all ages. You can either walk up the 199 steps, if ur feeling fit or get bus there.

This is well worth a visit. Historic building reflecting history of the area. Access is a good walk but bus is available. Steep walk along path back to town.

Well worth the climb. The views are amazing and the abbey itself is beautiful to explore. Staff in the shop super friendly and offered advice and information. All added to the visit.

Whitby Abbey is a breathtaking monument. English Heritage have made it so accessible for adults and children alike with humour from the Abbess and junior monk taking us around the ruin through the individual audio tour. Well worth the walk up the 199 steps to get there.

What an imposing building the abbey is when viewed against the skyline. It can be seen for miles. Close up it is no less impressive, with the bonus of beautiful views both seaward and inland. There is lots of information and a gallery of artefacts indoors too.

Stunning place for lovers of photography of architecture and ruins. Great shots whatever the light. Always a bit breezy up there so take something warm. Just in case. Really beautiful place in a gorgeous setting.

No visit to Whitby is complete without a visit to the Abbey. Atmospheric it most certainly is. The visitor centre at the entrance is very well done.
