This blue flag beach is always clean, and at low tide one can walk along it from Whitby to Sandsend. This is a proper sandy beach,(not pebbly like some).
Never tire of walking from Whitby to Sandsend. Only a 6 mile round trip, but well worth it. Especially helped with a stop off for coffee at the Beach café in Sandsend.

Whitby beach obviously a must if you have kids in tow. The beach is large . Amazingly we meet people who tell us they were not aware of a beach location in Whitby.
I traveled to Whitby by Metro from Newcastle. So easy and quick and only cost a £5.00 for a day saver ticket. The beach is lovely and takes you all the way up to St Mary's bay Lighthouse which is great for watching the seals....More
Lovely sandy beach, lifeguards in summer months, no dogs allowed on beach summer months. Donkey rides, deck chair hire and ice cream van on beach when tides out.
