Walked on this beach and saw children riding donkeys which you don't see much these days. Nice safe place for families to enjoy.

Whitby as usual lovely, however we felt very unsafe, people not social distancing, pushing past you, no masks, not considering others at all.

Lovely small sand beach largely under encumbered by tacky amusements arcades and shops which located at the north end of the harbour. Seems very safe and if you’re very lucky, you might even find a piece of jet (black and very lightweight).

We walked from Sandsend to Ravenscar on Day 7 of our walking the Cleveland Way. A short walk of about an hour brought us to Whitby Beach and the brightly coloured beach huts. We walked along the paved paths just above the beach railing and the beach huts, as the tide was high there wasn't much sand to walk on. This also meant it was quiet - plus it was before 9am on a weekday! The beach can get quite busy on weekends and holidays, but not as uncomfortably crazy busy as central Whitby and the harbour area. There are spectacular views all along this stretch of coastline. A lovely sandy beach that stretches from Whitby to Sandsend. Next time we visit we will walk along the sand the whole way, rather than follow the Cleveland Way trail along the top.
